Lady Jessica Dune Part two
Dune: Part Two is currently 2024’s biggest film, so, it’s only natural that fans want to know more about what’s next. However, Dune actress Rebecca Ferguson, who played Lady Jessica, has just given an uncertain update regarding Dune 3‘s casting.

Speaking on TheWrap’s UnWrapped podcast, Rebecca Ferguson revealed what she knows about Dune 3, which has been officially greenlit. During the interview, the actress touched upon her role in the series Silo, the differences between adapting a novel into a movie or TV show as an executive producer and as an actress, the VFX team and the set on Silo, and more. She also addressed the casting issues for Dune 3.

The two Dune films were directed by Denis Villeneuve, who adapted Frank Herbert’s best-selling sci-fi book into two parts. He confirmed he will adapt the upcoming book in the Dune series, Dune: Messiah, but there’s a long way until the film will hit theaters. Rebecca Ferguson, who played Lady Jessica in both films, didn’t have more information about what’s going to happen in the upcoming installment, or when. “I don’t know anything. No, no, I know zero,” Ferguson insisted starting at the 22:44 mark. “I don’t even know if he has finished the script. I don’t even know if I’m in it. I mean I hope I’m in it. I’ve got chains and tattoos, I’m awesome.”

When the conversation switched to Anya Taylor-Joy’s secret cameo as Alia Atreides, Ferguson revealed, “I didn’t even know she was in [Dune: Part Two] until I saw the film. I was like ‘oh,” on the red carpet, I turned around, and there she was, hovering.”

“I literally wouldn’t have expected anything else, but their lips are so sealed. You have to also remember, nobody has signed onto the third film. That’s a big decision. That’s a lot of actors in the same movie. So I don’t know what they’re going to do, where they cut corners. There’s a lot to think about.”

Anya Taylor-Joy Opened Up About a Possible Role in Dune 3

Dune: Part Two introduced Paul Atreides’ unborn sister in the flesh of Anya Taylor-Joy. The actress had a brief, but memorable moment in Paul’s visions, but her character hasn’t even been born. However, Alia has a big part in the second book in the series, which means the actress could reprise her role, and Anya Taylor-Joy recently opened up about the possibilities.

I’ll know when you do,” Taylor-Joy told British GQ. “I think we’re all really hopeful.” She also noted that she has already prepared physically for what the role would entail. “Listen, I’m ready now, I’ve done the training,” she says. “I think you kind of need to do the movie in order to be ready for it.”

Director Denis Villeneuve teased Taylor-Joy’s return in Dune: Messiah in an interview with Variety. “Anya was Alia as soon as I met with her. In fact, I realized after the fact, she has always been Alia. Anya feels out of this world, as though she belongs to some other dimension, one step into the area,” Villeneuve praised the actress. “I can’t wait to go back on Arrakis with her,” he said.

Dune: Part One and Two are available to stream on Max.
