House of the Dragon Daemon visions explained

Daemon Targaryen has been having a hell time since he went to Harrenhal in House of the Dragon. The rogue prince headed there for some peace from all the drama at Dragonstone after Jaehaerys died and all the allegations stacked up against him, but at Westeros’ biggest castle Harrenhal all Daemon has had is more bad times. Most of this is down to a relentless barrage of disturbing visions he’s been getting. But what do they all mean? House of the Dragon loves a mysterious moment and there’s lots of bizarre lore to unpack, so here’s a rundown of the visions Daemon has been getting and their meanings explained.

Is Alys responsible?

Even back in Game of Thrones we learned that Harrenhal is a cursed castle where a lot of misfortune comes to whoever is residing there. When Daemon arrives he meets with Alys Rivers, who is actually said to be a witch who also gets visions of the future. She could actually be the one behind Daemon’s visions and hallucinations. She did tell him he’d die there on arrival, which was obviously rather ominous.

The young Rhaenyra vision

This one is all about control. Daemon is desperate for the Iron Throne, and we see his vision being in the throne room with Rhaenyra and she’s wearing the crown. He then cuts her head. This vision speaks about how when the two were younger Daemon could control her but his grip is slipping now the two are older and he never foresaw a woman in control of the Iron Throne.

Daemon’s dream about Leana

Daemon had a dream about his ex-wife Leana, and one about Aemond. Both of these seem to be about Daemon’s insecurities about his failures. He hasn’t succeeded in trying to off Aemond and most fans think a huge confrontation is coming so this will be foreshadowing for that. He also blames himself for the failure surrounding Leana’s death.

THAT dream about his mother

Most bizarrely, Daemon has a harrowing vision where he’s having sex with his mother. In the vision, Daemon is having sex with a woman who reveals herself as his mother and says that he’s her favourite son and should wear the crown. It’s a bizarre one because Daemon’s mother actually died when he was three – and the vision seems to be a twisted interpretation of the lack of motherly love he received growing up because of it.

The House of the Dragon visions for Daemon keep coming thick and fast and will likely carry on as long as he’s at Harrenhal – so we’ll get them explained as best we can every time!
