Let’s go over what happens to both Hugh the Hammer and Ulf the White, as both have a rather grisly end. After Rhaenyra takes over King’s Landing with the help of Hugh, she awards him with a knighthood and lands on Driftmark. However, during the Battle of Tumbleton where the pair get sent to defend the town they betray Rhaenyra and join the Greens instead.

Hugh starts calling himself Lord and decides he thinks he should become the new king. He is supported by soldiers who believe in a prophecy that tells of a new king rising to power once a hammer falls on a dragon. Another powerful family conspired to kill both Ulf and Hugh, and a man called Jon Roxton killed Hugh when his back was turned.

When Ulf discovered that Hugh had been killed, he decided he was going to claim the Iron Throne on his behalf. However, another man called Ser Hobert Hightower decided to poison Hugh with wine. But that’s what happens when you end up betraying Rhaenyra!
