The Boys season 4 is finally here, with the highly anticipated continuation of Amazon Prime Video’s critically acclaimed superhero series now releasing on the streaming service. The Boys season 4 picks up right where The Boys season 3 ended, with the titular team attempting to stop Victoria Neuman from becoming Vice President of the United States while Butcher works in the background to kill Homelander and save Ryan. Meanwhile, Homelander is attempting to reshape The Seven into a proper team, and that means selecting two new supe members – something that is easier said than done.
Homelander Is Leaving The Seven’s Final Spot Open For Ryan
When Will Ryan Join The Team?

At the start of The Boys season 4, Homelander, The Deep, A-Train, and the Black Noir replacement are the only remaining members of The Seven, causing them to have to select three new members. Their first pick is Sister Sage, a supe who has the power of being the smartest person on Earth. Then, the team enlists Firecracker, a far-right supe who has the ability to shoot fireworks out of her hands. While there are still tons of potential supes that the six heroes could have picked for membership, Homelander instead made a surprising choice.
As it turns out, Homeladner isn’t going to let The Seven pick their seventh member, with him instead leaving the team’s final spot open for Ryan. While Ryan has gained some incredibly powerful abilities due to him being the son of Homelander, the supe is still incredibly young, meaning that he isn’t quite ready for membership in The Seven. Despite this, Homelander doesn’t want anything getting in the way of Ryan’s membership when he comes of age, causing him to begin Ryan’s training and keep the seat at the top of Vought’s Seven Tower warm for him.
Has The Seven Ever Actually Had 7 Members Since The Boys Started?
It’s Only Happened Twice

The roster of The Seven has constantly changed throughout The Boys‘ four seasons, causing many to wonder if The Seven has ever had seven members in The Boys. Despite the team most frequently having four, five, or six members, there have actually been two times that the team has had seven members. This first occurred at the very beginning of season 1, with the team consisting of Homelander, Queen Maeve, A-Train, The Deep, Black Noir, Translucent, and Starlight, with it staying this way until the Boys kill Translucent.
The Seven again had seven members in The Boys season 3 for a brief time, with this only happening when The Deep rejoined the team and Supersonic was enlisted. At this point, the team consisted of Homelander, Queen Maeve, A-Train, The Deep, Black Noir, Starlight, and Supersonic. However, Homelander killed Supersonic shortly after, causing the number to drop down to six. Then, Starlight and Queen Maeve left the team, ending The Seven’s short stint as a fully-staffed supe team.
The Seven Not Getting A New Hero Spoils A Great Gen V Theory
Cate & Sam May Not Be Joining

Not filling out the ranks of The Seven in The Boys season 4 is a sad move, as it spoils a great Gen V theory. Ever since the end of Gen V, there has been a lot of speculation that either Cate or Sam would join the team. Cate and Sam are incredibly powerful supes who were propped up by Ashley to join The Seven, with many fans thinking that they would make their The Seven debut in The Boys season 4.
However, if Homelander is truly done adding members to the team, then that means that Cate and Sam won’t be joining in season 4. This dashes the hopes of this Gen V theory coming true, which is sad news for fans who were hoping for the two shows to continue crossing over. While there is still potential for these Gen V characters to appear in The Boys season 4, it seems unlikely that either of them will join The Seven.
