Lee Jung-jae looking shocked as Sol in The Acolyte episode 7The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland teases a particularly big Easter egg that will feature in episode 8. Premiering in June, the latest Star Wars show takes place a hundred years before the events of The Phantom Menace, chronicling the investigation into a series of Jedi murders. The Acolyte has been filled with fun Easter eggs for viewers throughout its seven episodes thus far, and episode 8, the season 1 finale, is poised to continue this trend.

In a recent interview with Star Wars Explained, Headland teases that The Acolyte episode 8 has an Easter egg that was quite a “challenge” to include.

While the creator doesn’t provide any hints about what this Easter egg could be, she does reveal that it was especially important for her to get it into the episode. Check out her comment below:

“My main thing that I really wanted to do in the show I got to do in episode 8. And that was the one that I think proved to be the biggest challenge in conversation, and I was very glad I got to do them.”

What Could This Acolyte Easter Egg Be About?

How Episode 7 Could Hold A Clue

There have been a handful of subtle references included in the Disney Plus so far to events and people in the larger Star Wars universe. One of the most notable Easter eggs featured in The Acolyte episode 7, for example, is the is the inclusion of a destroyed planet called Brendok, which was featured in The High Republic: Light of the Jedi novel. Clearly, then, Headland isn’t averse to including some deep-cut references and Easter eggs, suggesting the one featured in episode 8 could be similarly obscure.

The episode 8 Easter egg could somehow be connected to vergences. The Acolyte episode 7 introduces vergences as intense concentrations of Force energy. Although it has been a major part of most Star Wars projects thus far, the Force still remains shrouded in mystery and intrigue, especially for those not well-versed in the franchise’s novels. It’s possible that episode 8 will feature another callback or reference to a Star Wars book about another Force phenomenon, ability, or mystery.

Another plot point in The Acolyte episode 7 which could be connected to the episode 8 Easter egg is the reveal that Osha and Mae (Amandla Stenberg) were artificially created. Aniseya (Jodie Turner-Smith) essentially split a single consciousness into two bodies, which begs for further exploration. Also begging for further exploration is exactly how Mae survived her seemingly fatal fall. In any case, viewers should evidently keep their eye out for Easter eggs in The Acolyte finale.

The Acolyte episode 8 releases on Thursday, July 18, on Disney Plus.
