The-Acolyte-Rise-of-Skywalker-Qimir-Kylo-RenThe Acolyte episode 5 finally revealed the identity of the mysterious Sith Lord, but there was also a subtle hint that connects to Star Wars: The Rise of SkywalkerThe Acolyte episode 5 revealed that Qimir was the mysterious Sith Lord all along, but once he was unmasked, he continued to show his immense strength. Despite calling himself a Sith, there’s not much more known about his origins, and even his name remains a mystery.

Despite The Acolyte and The Rise of Skywalker taking place more than 150 years apart from one another, Star Wars has connected the two stories in the most subtle of ways. While it’s seemingly impossible for any of the characters in The Acolyte to meet anyone from The Rise of Skywalker, it does pose the question of why this connection was made in the first place. More interestingly, what might this connection mean for Osha, Mae, and Qimir’s future?

The Acolyte Episode 5 Features A Musical Nod To Kylo Ren

The Kylo Ren Theme Can Be Heard At the End of the Episode

The end of The Acolyte episode 5 sees Qimir come across Osha, who was still passed out after Mae had Force pushed her and taken on her identity. As he bends down towards her, he says, “What extraordinary beings we are. Even in the revelation of our triumph, you see the depth of our despair.” From there, Qimir covers Osha’s body with his cloak. However, what’s most significant about this moment is that John Williams’ Kylo Ren motif is playing in the background.

The music for The Acolyte is handled by Michael Abels, but it’s unclear if the choice to include Kylo Ren’s motif from the Star Wars sequel trilogy was his choice, or was included at the behest of the episode’s director – or even showrunner Leslye Headland. The moment where this plays is subtle, and unless a viewer is well versed in the music of Star Wars, they may not have caught the nod. It’s an interesting moment to have this music play, which poses the questions of why this moment and why the characters of Qimir and Osha.

Is The Acolyte Episode 5 Hinting At A Force Dyad?

Having Kylo Ren’s theme play during the moment with Qimir and Osha could indicate that Qimir is aware the twins are part of a Force Dyad.

Ever since it was revealed that Amandla Stenberg was playing two characters, twins Osha and Mae, it has been theorized that they are part of a Force Dyad. The phenomenon was seen between Kylo Ren and Rey in the sequel trilogy, though it’s been absent since. Having Kylo Ren’s motif play during the moment with Qimir and Osha could indicate that Qimir is aware the twins are part of a Force Dyad and that he may use that connection to get what he wants. Either way, audiences will have to wait until the next episode of The Acolyte for answers.
