Viewers were left with multiple unanswered questions after The Acolyte episode 3, which was a flashback of Mae and Osha’s childhood on Brendok. The episode featured a new coven of Force-wielding witches on Brendok, revealed some of the mystery of Mae and Osha’s origins, and more, but it didn’t finish the story it began. Now, however, a piece of artwork may have begun filling in those blanks.

A piece of artwork shared by Star Wars depicted The Acolyte episode 3, and it may include a very subtle hint of what really happened on Brendok.

The artwork features many of the most important parts of The Acolyte episode 3, from the fire to Mae and Osha, but it also includes some interesting aspects that weren’t present in the episode itself. In the background of the artwork, both The Acolyte‘s mysterious Sith Lord and the Jedi were standing on opposite sides of the Bunta tree on Brendok. The fact that the Sith Lord was included could be a hint that they were the ones truly responsible for the fire that killed the Witches of Brendok.

The New Acolyte Image May Answer So Many Questions From Episode 3

It’s possible that this image is just an artistic representation of The Acolyte episode 3, and that the Sith Lord was only included to illustrate the duality between Mae and Osha. However, there’s some evidence suggesting this is a legitimate hint of what’s to come in the show. There are other ways to illustrate that Mae was closer to the dark side than Osha was without including the Sith Lord, who wasn’t even in the episode to begin with. Using the Sith Lord to make that point would have only caused confusion, unless there was a deeper reason for their presence.

There are also a few clues within the artwork itself that the Sith Lord had a hand in Brendok’s fire. The smoke and flames in the image are coming from behind them, which is a visual cue that the two are related. Additionally, everything in the image centers around the Bunta tree, which is where Mae got the poison she used to kill Torbin in The Acolyte episode 2. That could be a hint that poison is more important to Mae than just as a weapon. Mae mentioned that she needed to kill Torbin “her way” when Qimir objected, which could be a sign that Bunta had some deeper meaning to her.

The artwork may answer some of the biggest questions from episode 3, but even if it doesn’t, The Acolyte needs to reveal what really happened on Brendok. The Acolyte episode 3 was told almost exclusively from Osha’s point of view, and some major parts of the night were left out entirely. The show will almost certainly revisit that flashback from another point of view, and explain how the witches were really wiped out. It’s only a matter of time until the mystery of The Acolyte is fully revealed, and hints like this artwork make each new episode even more exciting.
