Fasten your seat belts, we’re going south!
Although this controversial flick was aired a month ago, A Family Affair is still a prominent feature of Netflix ’s global top, even despite its shameful audience score of 31% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The secret is that this romcom attracts people due to its wild premise, the one that promises a love story between a movie star and his assistant’s older mother. Luckily, nowadays Netflix’s chart is dominated by a much more promising romantic movie.
Its plot revolves around John, a rock star who feels exhausted after his failed comeback album. That’s why he decides to escape to a dreamy island in Cyprus to live in a remote house near a cliff, but the point is that this cliff attracts not only tourists.
John is quick to realize that his new home is a suicide hotspot, so he tries to make it through the visits of the unwanted guests and the desire to find some new (or, probably, old) inspiration and love.
A romcom exploring the theme of committing suicide? Yes, you heard right, but don’t hurry to put it off your watchlist, as it treats this painful issue with greater care.
The movie manages to speak about failed relationships, the struggles of a music career and people’s deep dramas with lots of humor that is often really relatable. We bet you’ll certainly find at least one character you can sympathize with there.
Besides, it may sound surprising due to the film’s shocking leitmotif, but it still gives strong summer vibes. Its depiction of stunning landscapes of southern Europe makes this romcom reminiscent of My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) and Mamma Mia! ( 2008).
Titled Find Me Falling (metaphorically, of course), this top-tier film stars Grammy award-winning actor and musician Harry Connick Jr., who turns out to be extremely convincing as a romcom performer.
Of course, it contains a number of the genre’s typical tropes and turns of the plot, but let’s be honest: we all love these comedies built upon a ‘happy-ever-after’ formula.
Besides, there is a lot of good music, uplifting dialogues and sunny images of Cyprus, and that’s exactly what we want to watch during a post-work evening chill.
Check out Find Me Falling, as it’s now available for streaming on Netflix.
