To celebrate May 4 and the 25th anniversary of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, all of the Skywalker films are getting a theatrical re-release this weekend. Those who show up for The Phantom Menace will also get a glimpse of exclusive footage from the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, The Acolyte, that showcases a battle between Mae and Jedi Master Indara. One fan leaked the footage from a showing in France on social media, which Disney will surely be quick to swoop in and take down as soon as possible.

In the full clip of the Disney+ Star Wars series The Acolyte, we see Amandala Stenberg’s Mae enter a cantina and approach a robed Jedi. That Jedi turns out to be Carrie-Anne Moss’ Master Indara, who watches calmly as Mae begins to attack some of the cantina’s customers. We see Mae show off her martial arts skills in a kinetic fight that ends with her kicking a table into an alien trying to hit her with a blaster.

It’s at this point that Carrie-Anne Moss’ Indara steps in, stopping Mae’s attacks with a quick grab of the hand. While Mae tries to take the offensive to Indara, the Jedi Master easily sidesteps her attacks with calm and collected dodges. Showrunner Leslye Headland previously indicated that we’ll see more of the Star Wars Force-fu in The Acolyte, and this clip seems to make good on that promise.
The fight shown in the clip definitely feels very Star Wars, but it seems like The Acolyte will also bring more of a martial arts style to the table…
Jedi Master Indara eventually uses the force to stop Mae in her tracks after the young attacker pulls a dagger, asking her, “Who trained you?” Mae breaks free and takes a hostage on the high ground, causing Indara to use the Force to step up to the walkway and bring the attack to Mae. However, Mae tosses the hostage to the ground and escapes the cantina as Indara uses the Force to stop the hostage from hitting the ground.

But the fight is far from over, as Mae is simply using the opportunity to hide and ambush Indara with her dagger. Mae eventually lands a kick on Indara, leading the Jedi Master to use the Force to gain some distance. Indara continues to be calm while on the defensive, eventually brandishing a green lightsaber before the Star Wars: The Acolyte clip comes to an end.
For those who want something a little different from the Star Wars franchise, The Acolyte might be what you’re looking for.
The fight shown in the clip definitely feels very Star Wars, but it seems like The Acolyte will also bring more of a martial arts style to the table than we’re used to seeing from the franchise. Carrie-Anne Moss’ Indara’s Force-fu also looks well-honed, and it’ll be cool to see her continue to utilize this style in the series. Meanwhile, Amandla Stenberg’s Mae looks fierce in this brief glimpse we see of her character.
For those who want something a little different from the Star Wars franchise, The Acolyte might be what you’re looking for. The series is set in the High Republic era, which hasn’t been explored on-screen before, and follows an investigation into a crime that leads to sinister and unexpected forces. The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung Jae, Dafne Keen, Manny Jacinto, Jodie Turner-Smith, Charlie Bennett, Rebecca Henderson, Dean Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Margarita Levieva and is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 4.
