The most hated character in Game of Thrones has angered fans once again with his bratty behavior.

joffrey Baratheon, Game of Thrones

Joffrey Baratheon, played by Jack Gleeson, is one of the most despicable characters in Game of Thrones, which says a lot as many in the series deserve a lot of hate. The young King and son of Cersei Lannister is a spoiled and violent brat, whose violent tendencies make him extremely dangerous.

Apart from all the messed-up antics, one scene, in particular, seems to have irked the fandom yet again as they follow the new season of House of the Dragon. Joffrey is seen talking about the death of Rhaenyra Targaryen in an episode of the flagship show, which is basically a spoiler for the prequels, which takes place hundreds of years prior.

Joffrey Baratheon Spoiled The Ending of House of the Dragon Years Before It Even Began

While fans of the book Fire & Blood already know what happens in the spinoff show House of the Dragon, the rest of the fans are still waiting in bated breath as to who among the Targaryens will finally take over the Iron Throne. The ‘Dance of the Dragons’ has been touted to be one of the bloodiest wars and it has only just started in the HBO series.

However, eagle-eyed fans would have already known the ending if they had gone back to watch the flagship show Game of Thrones. The ending of HOTD is spoiled by none other than the worst human in all of the Seven Kingdoms: Joffrey Baratheon. The bratty king, played by Jack Gleeson, easily spells out the death of Rhaenyra in one shot.

In the episode, Joffrey is seen courting his bride-to-be Margaery Tyrell and showing her around the palace which also houses the crypt with Rhaenyra Targaryen’s remains. The king says that Rhaenyra was killed by her brother’s dragon in front of her own son. He menacingly says the story with glee in his eyes as Margaery looks on.

I love how they filmed this scene with Joffrey facing and pointing at the camera and then chuckling maliciously as he explains how they die. It really feels like a fourth wall break where he spoils the prequel and then laughs in the face of the audience because he knows he just ruined the show for them.

This moment is amazing. Spoiling the entire series in a single shot. As if people didn’t hate Jeffrey enough

I am so mad! I’ve been rewatching GoT for the first time while waiting for HOTD every week.  Out of all the things Joffery ever did, this was by far the worst. And yes i am taking this personally.

Even beyond the grave, Joffrey’s cruelty knows no bounds.

So I was rewatching Got and when it got to this part I was heated. I cant believe nearly 10 years later and Joffrey is still getting under my skin!

Fans were also quick to note that Margaery Tyrell is a descendant of the Hightowers, who lead Team Green in House of the Dragon. Margaery is the daughter of Alerie Hightower.

What Happens To Rhaenyra Targaryen In Fire & Blood?

The ‘Dance of the Dragons’ is the Civil War of succession between the two Targaryen factions, which is covered in the HBO show House of the Dragon. Set centuries before the events of Game of Thrones, the series saw the clash between Rhaenyra Targaryen, played by Emma D’Arcy, and Alicient Hightower, played by Olivia Cooke.

The show is partially based on the book Fire & Blood which acts as a historical account of many key events in the Targaryen history. Just like Joffrey Baratheon mentioned in the flagship show, Rhaenyra Targaryen’s end comes at the hands of King Aegon II’s dragon Sunfyre after she flees from her kingdom.

According to the book, Rhaenyra is crowned the Queen and continues to rule the realm. However, due to the Hightowers’ insane spending during their reign, finds herself broke. The Queen reportedly orders the citizens to pay more taxes in order to meet the requirements, which results in a riot from the people.

Coupled with the death of Helaena Targaryen, who was close to the people, Rhaenyra’s reign comes to an end when she flees with her son Aegon III, selling her crown to gain passage. However, she is betrayed and given to the mercy of her half-brother Aegon II, who kills her.

House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones are available to stream on Max.
