A deleted scene from ‘The Avengers’ shows Chris Evans’ Captain America saving a family in style proving that he is the superhero people deserve.
Chris Evans stole our hearts the moment he stepped into the frame as Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011). It has been over a decade since the film was released but Captain America still holds a special place in the hearts of MCU fans. After The First Avenger, Chris Evans reprised his role in The Avengers (2012), which remains one of the most iconic films in Marvel’s cinematic history.

Steve Rogers had a prominent role in the film as he teamed up with the other Avengers to save the world from Loki and the Chitauri tribe. The Avengers worked in a team to defeat the threat but there is one adorable but deleted scene from the film which shows Chris Evans’ Captain America taking on a Chitauri all by himself to save a family trapped in the mess.

The deleted scene of The Avengers takes place during the Battle of New York when a family of three tries to escape the mayhem in their burning car. Unfortunately, a Chitauri soldier catches a glimpse of the escape and shoots at the car from the top of the building. However, little did he know that he’d have to face the wrath of Captain America himself.
Chris Evans’ Avenger arrives on the scene and knocks him off the building. The Chitauri hangs on to the car and tries to get a hold of the family inside, which includes a dad, a mom, and their young son.
Captain America quickly gets on his feet and throws his shield at the alien on the fast-moving car, defeating him. His shield is given back to him by the kid who looks at him with expressions of gratitude, pride, and admiration. While the kid is unable to utter a word, his face says it all. When Cap tells the father to “get underground,” he replies with a simple “yes, sir.”
Both of these small moments indicate that the superhero had maintained his popularity and had become a symbol of greatness amongst the masses, despite spending decades on the ice.

It’s a bit disappointing that the scene was cut from the film given how perfectly it portrayed who Captain America actually is. Luckily, the deleted scene made its way to the Internet, giving fans a look into what could have been.
Watch the deleted scene below:
Needless to say, fans ended up loving the scene, which was just one of the many Captain America scenes that ended up getting cut from the film.
Take a look at what fans had to say about it all:
@daralinsworth6706 – So many Captain America scenes got deleted from The Avengers. It kind of seemed like he was an afterthought throughout the movie. I’m glad that Marvel made The Winter Soldier so awesome. I think Steve deserved a really good movie after The Avengers.
@tomkvideo – They cut out so much Captain America stuff from this film. Sucks. :\
@Theplaymaker1271 – All of these scenes would have made Captain America waaaay more badass in the movie!!
@reginav4294 – awww, the kid gives him back his shield! That’s adorable!
@TheBuckicod – This is why i thought makes captain america a true hero, its who he is on the inside that made him who he was.
@kristallhawthorne6785 – Honestly all of the cut scenes with cap helping civilians are really good scenes……they remind me more of 40s cap, not moping about cap the final cut gave us.
In an interview with Vulture, director Joss Whedon revealed the original version of the film was three hours long instead of the 2 hour and 23 minute mark.
Other deleted scenes of Cap included him learning about the modern world in his apartment and later going out for a walk and coming across a waitress, Beth, at a café. He was also persuaded by Stan Lee to get her number. In another deleted scene, he comes across Beth once again.
While we wish Whedon could have included all these scenes and more in the film, we realize that it probably wasn’t the most feasible idea. But hey, at least we got to see them on their own!
