The presence of a large number of storylines in the series should make the viewer even more interested in the series, but in The Rings of Power everything works the other way around.

Many people were disappointed with The Rings of Power, to say the least. Many agree that the emphasis on beautiful imagery hides plot flaws and meaningless dialogue.

The series was released on the day before the anniversary of Tolkien’s death (September 2, 1973), which is a rather touching gesture to the great author, but we must come to terms with it: the creators of the series are moving away from the books and rethinking the story in detail.

Of course, this is due to the fact that the show’s creators could not buy the rights to The Silmarillion, but the fact that the writers did not have a solid foundation in the form of an original book obviously did not play into the show’s hands.

The series has been criticized for its weak dialogue, cheap-looking costumes, and poor writing, but fans seem to have found the root cause of almost all of these problems.

According to Reddit user whatevspost1233, the writers’ idea of cramming six storylines into the series from the get-go doomed The Rings of Power to fail.

According to the author’s calculations, with so many storylines, each of them takes about ten minutes per episode, which leaves no chance for well-written and deep dialogues and proper interactions between the characters.

Many fans agree with this and do not hope for any changes in the second season.

“I definitely noticed that. What’s worse is that we will be getting even more storylines in this next season, there’s like 10 + new characters in season 2. And Don’t expect these issues to be fixed any time soon or at all,” Reddit user Zhjacko commented.

Others, however, say that the problem lies with the creators of this particular show, as the writers of other major projects, such as Game of Thrones, have done an excellent job with multiple storylines being developed at the same time.

It seems there are too many negative moments in The Rings of Power for the die-hard Tolkien fans. Especially in terms of plot and disclosure of lines, the series does not stand out among many other projects.

All the investment only pays off with visual benefits, and it seems that this is not enough for global success. With all the publicity surrounding the series, viewers want something more.
