House of the Dragon simply showed the historical truth of women suffering from the violence of men!
Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon are both exceptional series set in the same world of George R.R. Martin. With both series featuring heavy violence, mature themes, and some very brutal and gory scenes, a comparison between the two was bound to happen.
Since House of the Dragon is a prequel to Game of Thrones, the cast referred to as the Dragon team was ready with a reply. With female characters getting criticized in Game of Thrones, the Dragon team took extra measures to compare childbirth to a battle scene beautifully as a metaphor for a fight!

The Team Learned From Criticism For Game of Thrones!

Throughout the run of the show, the series was heavily criticized for the brutality and violence that was shown on the female characters. With characters like Sansa, Arya, Brienne, Margaery, and more, these females suffered something terrible throughout the series. Although that is the world of George R.R. Martin’s Westeros, the Dragon team from House of the Dragon took care of its female characters. In an interview with THR, director Miguel Sapochnik, revealed something special!
“In medieval times, giving birth was violence. It’s as dangerous as it gets. You have a 50/50 chance of making it. We have a number of births in the show and basically decided to give them different themes and explore them from different perspectives the same way I did for a bunch of battles on Thrones.”
The director further continued,
“If anything, we’re going to shine a light on that aspect [of violence against women]. You can’t ignore the violence that was perpetrated on women by men in that time. It shouldn’t be downplayed and it shouldn’t be glorified.”
As the interview continued, actress Olivia Cooke, known for portraying Alicent Hightower in House of the Dragon, had some controversial remarks to make.

Olivia Cooke Had Some Controversial Things To Say About Men!
Being best friends who turned into a stepmother and daughter duo, Alicent Hightower and Rhaenyra Targaryen have had quite an impeccable bond throughout House of the Dragon. Olivia Cooke, who portrays the role of Alicent Hightower revealed that they didn’t have a need for male characters when they were shooting a scene!
“There are times where Emma is on one stage and I’m on the other and we’re both surrounded by [male characters] being idiotic. And we know if all these men just fu*ked off, and it was just us two, the realm would be fine. It’s the meddling and the peacocking and egos that completely muddy everything.”
With a second season in the works, the prequel to Game of Thrones has garnered quite the fame. Having high ratings and the love of people from all around the world, House of the Dragon Season 2 is slated for a release date in early summer 2024. Both series are available to stream on Max in the U.S.
