The scene had viewers sweating, an effect which was only intensified by some behind-the-scenes tidbits from star Nicola Coughlan

Netflix viewers notice filming error that makes Bridgerton scene 'the hottest sex scene in all the seasons'

Hit show Bridgerton has become known for its steamy scenes leaving bosoms heaving and fans fanning themselves.

But one steamy scene on the Netflix show, in particular, has captured the attention of the show’s fans.

In a show known for its sensuous scenes getting people hot under the collar, one scene stood out.

There are some mild spoilers for third season of Bridgerton if you haven’t seen it yet, so be warned.

The scene is between the friends-to-lovers combo Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, specifically the moment where they engage in a spot of heavy petting inside a carriage.

And, given the bit of behind the scenes gossip which has emerged since then, it’s perhaps no surprise that fans have been so impressed by the scene.

When it comes to great scenes in movies, especially intimate scenes, chemistry between the actors is hugely important.

Actors Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan played the two lovebirds, and revealed that there might be a very good reason that the scene went quite so well.

In an interview with the Radio Times, Coughlan said: “Hundreds of millions of people watch the show – not five. That’s really scary. But it was one of the things I enjoyed most.

“Luke and I had a real hand in what we did and how it came across. We had agency and we could let it flow.

“Thankfully, we had that physical comfort with one another – so it ended up being a really beautiful thing.”

She added: “Luke is a dream to work with. We really had each other’s back. Having now watched those scenes, I’m so proud of them.”

Speaking to Netflix’s Tudum about the scene, Coughlan revealed that the carriage had been too small to fit a camera operator inside, so it was just the two performers.

She said: “We knew what we were doing and the general choreography of it. But it started to feel really long.

“So we just kind of kept going. And I was like, ‘This is going on for ages.’”

When the pair finally stopped after figuring it had gone on long enough, they found that director Andrew Ahn had been trying to tell them to cut ‘for ages’.

And people loved the bit of on-set gossip, with one person writing: “The carriage scene is a million times better when you know that Luke and Nicola were told to stop but ‘couldn’t hear’ when they were being told so they just kept going.”

Another said: “I was shy during this scene ooooo. This might be the hottest sex scene in the all the seasons. I felt like [a] damn voyeur,” while a third wrote: “I honestly felt like I was intruding.”

Bridgerton is available to stream on Netflix.
