While you’re on standby for your next Bridgerton fix, Netflix has shared a list of shows that might just tide you over
Many people are BEYOND excited for the second instalment of Bridgerton season three, even though we’ve still got a while to go.
Yep, while it feels like we’ve been patiently waiting for forever, the Netflix gods are really drumming up the suspense before part two lands later this month.
But while you’re on standby for the next Polin fix, the streamer has at least thrown us a bone by sharing ‘13 shows like Bridgerton’ that can be binged ahead of 13 June.
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story
Many of you have been turning to Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story recently, branding the spin-off a ‘masterpiece’.
The six-episode mini-series runs two concurrent plot lines, with the present seeing Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel) dealing with the death of the royal heir Princess Charlotte, while the other documents the meeting and marriage of young Charlotte (India Amarteifio) and King George (Corey Mylchreest).
The Law According to Lidia Poët
“The series has the sumptuous costumes, strong protagonist, and, well, sex that you love from Bridgerton, with more crime-solving,” Netflix says of this one, which has a solid 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes,
Based on the real life figure of the same name, it follows Lidia Poët (Matilda De Angelis) as she becomes the first woman lawyer in Italy – then promptly gets disbarred, because she’s a woman.

The Empress
Bridgerton fans have also been all over The Empress, which is based on a novel about the real-life Empress of Austria.
The steamy German TV show, which dropped on the streaming platform back in 2022, follows Elisabeth von Wittelsbach as she falls for and marries her sister’s intended love match, Emperor Franz Joseph.
Lovesick
Netflix admits that Lovesick might not be the ‘obvious choice those enamored with costumed period romances’, but says you merely need to delve a little deeper to see the connection – like with ‘any good love story’.
It follows a group of best friends with an adorable will-they-won’t-they romance at the core, and the result is nothing short of delightful.
Fun fact: when it first aired on Channel 4 in 2014, it was actually called Scrotal Recall…

The Crown
While the Bridgerton franchise gives us a peek into the lives of Regency-era monarchs King George III and Queen Charlotte, The Crown brings us the more modern tale of Queen Elizabeth and co.
It’s glossy, it’s scandalous, and there are no fewer than six seasons to work your way through. Perfect.
Outlander
According to Netflix, the romance in Outlander ‘burns just as bright’ as Simon and Daphne’s, but spans ‘continents, timelines, and near-danger at every turn’.
Based on the novel series by Diana Gabaldon, it follows WWII nurse Claire, who stumbles upon a mythical set of stones that transport her back to 1740s Scotland, where she meets Highlander Jamie Fraser.

Cable Girls
If you love the dreamy fashions of Bridgerton, you’ll enjoy getting outfit inspo from Cable Girls, which takes us back to 1920s Madrid.
The Spanish period drama chronicles a group of ‘cable girls’ who become BFFs at Spain’s first national telephone company, rising through the ranks while also finding solace in the ‘arms of lovers past and present’.
Elite
“This Spanish drama isn’t necessarily period, but the students of Las Encinas revel in plenty of clandestine romps, heartaches, and eventful balls — scratch that, raucous parties — that would rival any front page of Lady Whistledown’s scandal sheet,” Netflix says of Elite, each season of which also kicks off with a mystery begging to be solved – and murderous ones at that.
Sex Education
While many of you may know Simone Ashley as Kate Sharma, you can retrace her Netflix roots by checking out Sex Education, the teen sex comedy-drama that has launched the careers of several young stars.

Call the Midwife
Adapted from the best-selling memoirs of Jennifer Worth, Call the Midwife is set in London just like Bridgerton, although this time the drama follows a community of nuns at Nonnatus House in the 1950s.
There are 13 seasons and counting, meaning you should have more than enough to tide you over until Penelope and Colin return.
Crashing
Why is Netflix recommending Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s one-season comedy about a group of friends in their 20s who live in a dilapidated former hospital, you ask? Two words: Jonathan Bailey.

Derry Girls
A dip into Derry Girls will, of course, give you another fix of Our Queen and Saviour, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington in Bridgerton.
The teen sitcom is based on creator Lisa McGee’s own experiences growing up in Northern Ireland in the 1990s during the final years of The Troubles, providing the ultimate throwback.
Grey’s Anatomy
A Shonda Rhimes classic, that’s still going strong despite first hitting screens 20 years ago.
If you’ve not seen this yet, have you been living under a rock? Time to acquaint yourself with McDreamy… and McSteamy.
