Night King House Dragon finale

I’m sorry but the biggest jumpscare during the House of the Dragon finale was during Daemon’s vision when we got a terrifying look at what appeared to be the Night King. But not terrifying in a genuine way, but more of a ‘me when I look in the mirror after a long week of work’ way.

Now, I’m not saying that during Game of Thrones, the Night King was any kind of looker, but he did have a sort of chiselled and distinctive look about him. The Night King we saw during the House of the Dragon finale looked, in the nicest way possible, like a wrinkled old prune. But why exactly did he look so different? Let’s find out.

Well, according to fans the answer is a lot simpler than you might think. Primarily the creature we see during the vision isn’t actually the Night King at all. Instead, those on Twitter think that instead of being the Night King, he’s actually just a general White Walker general. After all, that would make the most sense as to why he looked so drastically different!

However, some fans also think that just like Daemon saw himself as Aemond in a previous vision, that what Daemon saw was himself as a White Walker. This supports the popular fan theory that Daemon actually turns into the Night King. There are some small spoilers ahead so click away now if you don’t want anything about Daemon to be spoiled!

In the House of the Dragon books, Daemon is eventually killed during an epic dragon battle with Aemond, where he stabs his nephew through the eye and kills him. However, in doing so Daemon also falls off his dragon into a massive lake and his body is never found.

Fans think the deliberate mystery of his body never being found means he was taken by the children of the forest and turned into the Night King. When the Night King does eventually ride a dragon he seems like a natural at it, and surprise surprise so was Daemon…
