Unlike Iron Man and Captain America, who became instant favorites among fans of the MCU, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor initially struggled to land his footing among the MCU greats. While his first film was far from a failure, it was still considered one of the weaker entries in the initial phases. On top of that, the critical failure of The Dark World would finally push the MCU to make some notable changes to the character.

As a result, we got Taika Waititi for the threequel, which not only surpassed the previous two entries in quality, Ragnarok ended up cementing itself as one of the best pre-Infinity War films. Unfortunately, the character once again hit a new low following the failure of Thor: Love and Thunder, and Hemsworth still hasn’t forgiven himself for this debacle.

Coming off the success of Infinity War and Endgame, fans were highly excited to see what the MCU had stored next for one of their strongest Avengers. But to everyone’s dismay, Love and Thunder failed to meet the bar set by its predecessor and was considered one of the worst entries in the controversial Phase Four. Fans stressed that the overwhelming amount of jokes undermined the serious moments in the story, which ended up being detrimental to the overall narrative.

But fans aren’t alone in sharing condemn against Thor 4, as even 2 years after its release, Chris Hemsworth hasn’t been able to forgive him for the film’s shortcomings. The Extraction star took the blame for not sticking the landing, explaining that he got too caught up in the improv and wackiness.

He told Vanity Fair:

“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.”

Following the actor’s heartfelt admission, fans have forgiven the actor for his mishap, with many coming forward in defense of the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star.

Fans Don’t Blame Chris Hemsworth for Thor 4’s Failure

While many forgive the actor for missing the mark with Thor 4, some stressed that Hemsworth shouldn’t be blamed for its failure, as most of Thor 4‘s issues lie within its writing and direction.

With no new Thor film in sight, as Disney is yet to greenlit the fifth entry in the franchise, the Extraction star’s return as the god of thunder remains uncertain. On the bright side, fans will witness the actor in George Miller’s upcoming Mad Max entry, Furiousa, which has the potential to become one of Hemsworth’s most acclaimed releases to date.
