Hideo Kojima was impressed by the latest episode of Prime Video’s The Boys.
The Boys Season 4 is getting better and more intense as the story continues, with the recent episode captivating the interest of video game designer Hideo Kojima. Fans who have seen it know that the show made a witty jab at Marvel Studios franchises.

The concept of cinematic universes has probably been around for quite some time. However, it was only during the peak of superhero movies’ domination at the box office did the term became globally popular.
Hideo Kojima Could Not Help But Fanboy Over The Boys
On his Twitter account, Japanese video game artist Hideo Kojima shared his love for Amazon Prime’s The Boys Season 4. In his post, he particularly attached an image of the VCU or the Vought Cinematic Universe, the series’ attempt to parody the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Returned to Japan early in the morning today and just watched episode 5 of “THE BOYS” season 4. It was great. Unpredictable. It was funny, gory, and it made me cry too. The satire is brilliant.

Kojima also remarked that the satire element of the show is evolving as its trademark, adding: “This is becoming the usual “THE BOYS.” The drama and the characters are developing fast! I can’t take my eyes off of this! And I can’t wait for more next week.” He was clearly professing his love for the show.
The famed video game designer’s commendation of the series is indeed a valuable comment that proves the quality of the story and the talent of the cast. Surely, the folks at Marvel Studios have got a response to this, but series creator Eric Kripke only told Variety:
I heard very casually and in passing that Marvel executives watch and like the show. But I haven’t been given any names or anyone — just someone mentioned it to me in passing. I think it’s done in good fun. Like I’ve said, I watch all the Marvel movies. I dig them. It’s just the sheer amount of content is worth having a little fun with.

It’s a good note then that Marvel Studios is taking this satire quite well. Even Kojima found it smart and highly entertaining, and a great stamp of uniqueness to the show.
Eric Kripke Argues The Boys Isn’t A Superhero Show
While The Boys inverts the superhero genre and casually ridicules the likes of Marvel, Kripke tells The Hollywood Reporter that it is no superhero show.
Boys and their spinoffs, none of them are really superhero shows. They have the suits and powers, but The Boys is a show about celebrity politics and late-stage capitalism.

He points out that even “all superhero movies — not just Marvel — start to flag when it’s just a superhero movie.” This is why The Boys stands out from the rest; it does not follow the generic formula of superhero movies. It tackles issues that aren’t often discussed in PG-13 comic book films.
Kripke noted that when it starts to “feel the same as every other one,” the audience gets bored and experiences the so-called superhero fatigue.
The Boys is streaming on Prime Video.
