While her co-star was traumatized by the wedding night scene, Sophie Turner actually loved it despite of how daunting it was.

Few shows have managed to achieve what Game of Thrones has. Over the years that it was on air, the show built itself a loyal fanbase who felt every emotion the characters felt. Game of Thrones established itself as a cultural phenomenon and gained followers throughout the globe. Not even the countless heartbreaking deaths in the show could turn its audience away.

One of the many things that Game of Thrones is known for, whether it’s the TV or the books, is its gruesome and hard-to-watch scenes. One scene that was a bit too much for the audience in particular was the one involving Ramsay Bolton and Sansa Stark on their wedding night in season five. We just unlocked horrible memories, didn’t we? Well, while the scene should have been difficult to film for Sophie Turner, the actress revealed that she actually enjoyed it.

On the first night of their wedding, Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) r-ped Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and made Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) watch. Needless to say, the scene shocked the viewers to their core, and rightly so.

A scene as intense as this one must have been a nightmare to film, especially for Turner. However, the actress once unexpectedly revealed that she actually loved the scene for how messed up it was.

Talking to Entertainment Weekly back in 2015, Turner stated,

“When I read that scene, I kinda loved it. I love the way Ramsay had Theon watching. It was all so messed up. It’s also so daunting for me to do it.”

She also added that she pretended to be upset with the scene in front of producer Bryan Cogman in an attempt to make him feel bad, while secretly loving it.

“I’ve been making [producer Bryan Cogman] feel so bad for writing that scene, ‘I can’t believe you’re doing this to me!’ But I secretly loved it.”

While Turner may have seen the silver lining in the scene when it comes to storytelling and loved the whole thing, her on-screen husband was not a fan.

Iwan Rheon Recalls the Worst Day of His Career

Taking place in the sixth episode of Game of Thrones’ fifth season, the wedding night scene was not easy on anyone present on set, especially Rheon. While the actor played a ruthless character on-screen, he couldn’t be more upset with the atrocities Ramsay committed.

Speaking with Metro, Rheon once revealed that the day the scene was filmed was the worst day of his career.

“That was horrible. Nobody wanted to be there. Nobody wants to do that, but if it’s telling a story then you have to tell it truthfully. They didn’t sensationalize it or anything. It was very, very hard watching. It’s a horrible thing that happens, unfortunately, and it shouldn’t be. It was the worst day of my career.”

He continued,

“Chopping someone’s finger off you don’t really see it, and when you’re doing like a closeup, it’s a piece of plastic. We’re just acting, it’s not real. Then something like that where you’re in the actual reality of the situation is very difficult to deal with. It was a horrible, horrible day.”

While Rheon pushed through the scene in the most professional manner, it looks like he was truly scarred by it all. We cannot really blame him, can we?
