House Dragon season

Whatever your thoughts were on the House of the Dragon season two finale, we finally know how many more seasons of the show we’ll get before it’s all over. During a press conference on Monday, showrunner Ryan Condal revealed that House of the Dragon would contain two more seasons before concluding with season four.

The creator also confirmed that season three of the show is currently being written, with prep taking place in Autumn and production to start in “earlyish 2025.” That means we’ll probably have to wait another couple of years before getting to watch the next season.

When asked if season three will also have eight episodes, Ryan revealed: “I haven’t had discussions with HBO about it. I would just anticipate the cadence of the show, from a dramatic storytelling perspective, will continue to be the same from season two on.” George R.R.m Martin previously wrote on his blog that he thinks it would take four seasons of 10 episodes to translate his Fire and Blood book successfully onto the screen.

However, the most recent season had only eight episodes, leading some fans to wonder whether two episodes were scrapped due to budget cuts. Alongside season three of House of the Dragon, George R.R. Martin has confirmed HBO is currently developing seven Game of Thrones spinoffs, which are in addition to House of the Dragon.

So far we know three of them are live action and four are animated, with the others remaining unknown. There is a live action series about Aegon the Conqueror, another called Ten Thousand Ships and one that we now have a trailer for called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. As for the animated series, we know that one of them will be about the adventures of a young Corlys Velaryon and another about the Golden Empire of Yi Ti.
