Cregan Stark House Dragon

If you cast your mind back to the start of House of the Dragon season two, you might remember a certain iconic character called Cregan Stark. Whilst Cregan Stark only appeared in a few scenes with Jace, House of the Dragon fans were quick to call him a fan favourite, and it looked like we might see him again before the season was over.

But, with the season finale of House of the Dragon having been and gone, it seemed we weren’t going to get to see Cregan Stark again, despite his Winter Wolves being on the march. But it turns out we actually were supposed to get to see scenes of him during the finale, but they were cut from the final edit of the show.

We can see some behind the scenes footage that shows Cregan Stark would have marched with the rest of his army across the twins. In the final version of the show that was aired, all we see is his soldiers without him. Given it’s such a small change it does seem a slightly bizarre decision from the producers to cut him.

During the books, Cregan Stark also played a very important role throughout the Dance of the Dragons and was known as the Wolf of the North. He was Lord of Winterfell and head of House Stark during the reign of Viserys I, Aegon II, Aegon III and Daeron I, now that’s a lot of kings! He briefly served Aegon III by being the Hand of the King and passed away peacefully in his old age.
