Bran House Dragon

There are a lot of references to Game of Thrones in House of the Dragon, but one fan theory suggests that Bran has actually been observing all the events in House of the Dragon. Now if you’re wondering why you haven’t noticed him creepily standing in the shadows, it’s because he’s not physically there.

If you cast your mind back to season one you might remember seeing a Weirwood tree in Kings Landing, and it’s one that Rhaenryra and Alicent would frequently rest under. You might have also spotted a face carved into the bark, a common attribute of the trees, but some fans think there’s more to the face than meets the eye.

During Game of Thrones Bran touched a Weirwood tree in order to see visions of the past, present and future and some fans think he is actually the face in the tree.

During one passage in the Game of Thrones book series, Bran’s experience in the tree is described: “He [Bran] wanted to reach out and touch him [Eddard Stark], but all that he could do was watch and listen. I am in the tree. I am inside the heart tree, looking out of its red eyes, but the Weirwood cannot talk, so I can’t… Bran felt his eyes fill up with tears. But were they his own tears, or the Weirwood’s? If I cry, will the tree begin to weep?”

The tree in Kings Landing in House of the Dragon has red tears flowing down its bark, so could Bran be watching the events and already crying because he knows what will happen to house Targaeryn in the future? Whilst we’ll never know for sure there is something eerie about the thought of Bran helplessly watching the events unfold that will lead to everyone’s destruction.

Bran might not be able to change the events of the past but hopefully, he can learn from them since he was made King of Westeros, which definitely wasn’t a controversial decision at all…
