The actor’s request is more than feasible.
Most viewers are familiar with Elijah Wood thanks to his role as Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings, which has become a signature role for him.
World fame came to Wood in 2001 when the first movie, The Fellowship of the Ring, was released. The filming took place in New Zealand, and at that time the actor had to move there.
He was accompanied by many outstanding actors: Ian McKellen, Viggo Mortensen, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler and others.
Amazon’s prequel to The Lord of the Rings, The Rings of Power, received a wave of criticism after its release, but Elijah Wood himself once admitted that he had seen three episodes of the series and generally liked it.
The only thing the actor disapproved of was that the show was filmed in the United Kingdom instead of New Zealand – its landscapes became the hallmark of the Peter Jackson’s trilogy.
We already know that Warner Bros. has signed a new deal to produce movies based on The Lord of the Rings and the movie studio is already thinking about creating new fantasy stories based on the Tolkien’s universe.
What story it will follow is still unknown but journalists are already trying to find out which of the actors of the original trilogy can possibly return to their roles.
Of course, Elijah Wood was also asked this question when he was at the premiere of the second season of Yellowjackets.
“Reboot… I don’t know about that, but if there’s more films that potentially involve Frodo, I would be down,” the actor responded while talking to Extra.
Thus, the actor is willing to return to the iconic role only in a completely new project.
Considering how vast Tolkien’s universe is and how many different exciting stories can be extracted from it, there is reason to hope that sooner or later viewers will be able to see Elijah Wood’s Frodo on the big (or small) screen again.
