Love triangles are back to the screens, and it’s something even more compelling than the upcoming war.

House of the Dragon ’s brand new season 2 is all about politics and wars between House Targaryen’s divided family members, but there’s never been a scarce place for all the personal drama between the lead characters.

Having already proved that there’s now some bad blood between Rhaenyra and her uncle-husband Daemon, the show is about to introduce an even bigger challenge for the most controversial couple’s relationships, and it has a lot to do with their common ally.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 reintroduced Mysaria, portrayed by Sonoya Mizuno, in its premiere episode. Initially brought to the screen as Daemon Targaryen’s mistress and later on proclaimed Mistress of Whispers, Mysaria is a very accurate personification of her own nickname since she’s mostly known for her ability to juggle both the Blacks and the Greens at a different time.

When Daemon finds out about Mysaria selling Team Black’s secrets to Otto Hightower, he rejects her, but then they reconcile when Mysaria flees King’s Landing and Daemon feels like he needs her help.

Later on she’s the one to send Daemon to Blood and Cheese whose atrocities in the Greens’ castle will bring much more tension to Daemon’s relationship with Rhaenyra.

Having learnt how to be sneaky just to survive, Mysaria finds a way to please Rhaenyra as well when she sends her guards a signal that Arryk of the Kingsguard has arrived at Dragonstone to kill the Blacks’ Queen.

She later has a personal meeting with Rhaenyra who offers her whatever reward Mysaria would want to have, and the latter, securing her future, opts for a spot in the court at Dragonstone.

Promising Mysaria to make her wish come true, Rhaenyra sees her husband’s mistress as an asset to smartly navigate the upcoming war via Mysaria’s ability to catch a tiniest piece of information wherever she goes.

However, Rhaenyra doesn’t know yet (or doesn’t want to accept) that her potentially strongest ally’s presence in her court is what may trigger Daemon and cause even more troubles for all three since their love triangle won’t be a secret anymore.

What’s most likely to happen in this case is that Daemon’s ego will be significantly hurt as he always considered himself a better ruler than Rhaenyra.

If the Blacks’ leader is joined by another smart woman with whom it’s pretty easy to plot schemes against the Greens, Daemon risks completely ruining his bond with both of them pretty soon.
