Premiered in December 2020, Bridgerton season 1 followed the ruse-turned-fiery romance between the family’s eldest daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), and the dashing Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset (Regé-Jean Page). However, audiences never got to see season 1’s couple again. Since Simon’s story was a one-season arc, he didn’t return for season 2. While Daphne appeared sparingly in the second season, she won’t be returning for season 3.

Bridgerton season 2 focused on the family’s eldest son, Anthony (Jonathan Bailey), and his tumultuous love triangle with the sisters Kate (Simone Ashley) and Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran), eventually ending up with the former. As revealed by Bridgerton season 3’s trailer and other clips, Anthony and Kate will return. Based on some of this footage, which shows them dancing and sharing other intimate moments, they appear to be more in love than ever.

Season 3 will follow Colin and Penelope’s romance and, considering Coughlan’s confirmation, season 4 will continue the tradition of bringing back a Bridgerton couple for the subsequent season. This wasn’t always guaranteed, considering that season 1’s couple, Daphne and Simon, were never seen again. However, it’s currently unclear which Bridgerton sibling season 4 will follow.

The fourth season could return to Benedict (Luke Thompson), whose love story in the third book was passed over in favor of Colin’s for season 3. There’s also been speculation that season 4 could follow Eloise (Claudia Jessie) or Francesca (Hannah Dodd). Whichever sibling Bridgerton season 4 follows, it’s clear that Penelope and Colin will be back in some capacity. For now, audiences can rest assured knowing that season 3 won’t be the end of the fan-favorite couple’s storyline.
