Shondaland’s hit Regency-era British drama, Bridgerton, has taken fans by storm all over the world becoming one of the most viewed and highest-rated shows on Netflix. Inspired by the Julia Quinn novels, the Netflix series follows the Bridgerton family as each of the eight children grows up and finds love during the London social season. Each season follows a particular romance trope like fake dating (or in this case, courting), enemies to lovers, and friends to lovers. Utilizing the different tropes allows the series to make each season have a fresh romantic feel.

Viewers curious about the cast may want to know behind-the-scenes tidbits about the Bridgerton series, like who is taller than the others, and who rises above their short stature to deliver a power-packed performance. It’s interesting to note that some of the characters with the biggest presence in the show are some of the shortest actors in the cast.

The Tallest Actors In The Bridgerton Cast

Bessie Carter, 5 Ft. 10

The oldest of the Featherington daughters, Prudence is not particularly well-liked by the rest of the ton. She, along with her sister Phillipa, spends the first season looking out for suitors, pushed on by an overbearing mother, while Penelope tries to help their distant cousin Marina. She memorably is the Featherington sister squeezed into an almost too-small corset in the first season in preparation for her debut. Outside of that, she doesn’t make a huge impression as her mother tends to overshadow her, stealing the attention in the Featherington family scenes.

At 5 feet 10 inches, Carter must tower over the other female.

Bessie Carter who plays Prudence, in spite of her character often being diminished by Lady Featherington’s attitude, is actually one of the tallest actors in the cast. At 5 feet 10 inches, Carter must tower over the other female, and even some male, actors on set.

Luke Thompson, 5 Ft. 11

The second Bridgerton brother, Benedict, is played by actor Luke Thompson. Benedict might turn out to be one of the few queer characters on Bridgerton — there were certainly some hints to that in season 1 and showrunner Jess Brownell has said the show plans to explore queer love stories in the era – and he is all poised for a more central role in upcoming seasons. Benedict’s book is actually third, but the story order has been shifted for the series with Colin, his younger brother, and Penelope Featherington taking center stage for season 3.

Benedict is also the only artistically minded person in the Bridgerton family apart from the intellectually inclined Eloise, with whom he seems to share the most camaraderie. His pursuit of art has allowed him to experience life outside of the bubble of the Bridgerton family. Thompson is quite tall indeed at 5 feet 11 inches.

René-Jean Page, 5 Ft. 11

While there are many sad things about Simon Basset in Bridgerton, fans still swoon over his often brooding nature. While watching him dance with and then romance Daphne, fans might wish to know that Simon’s actor Rene-Jean Page stands tall at 5 feet 11 inches, only slightly short of a full 6 feet, just like Luke Thompson.

He’s completed his time as Simon.

The Duke of Hastings might no longer be central to the storyline following the first season of Bridgerton, but Page has said he won’t mind if the producers end up recasting his role in the future. He’s completed his time as Simon, so if Simon should need to pop in for an appearance in one of the future seasons of the show, a new actor would likely be of a similar stature. It seems unlikely the audience will see the character again though.

Luke Newton 6 Ft.

Daphne’s brother, Colin, the third of the Bridgerton siblings, is played by the English actor Luke Newton. Colin is the most well-traveled of the Bridgertons. He is usually just returning home at the start of the season and leaving again for a new place at the end of the season. He often spends that time away writing to his siblings and Penelope Featherington. He’s also said that his time away has allowed him to really get to know himself while away from his family.

Luke Newton is one of the tallest actors in the cast at 6 feet, making him taller than Page and, of course, Jonathan Bailey, who plays his older brother Anthony. Bailey is actually listed as 5 ft. 11 on various celebrity sites, the same height as Page and Thompson, though it hasn’t been confirmed.

Martins Imhangbe, 6 Ft. 3

Simon Basset’s friend and confidante, Will Mondrich, is played by Martins Imhangbe. Mondrich, who is based on the real boxer of the era, Bill Richmond, is a boxer who has been using his skills in the ring to provide for his family; the first season saw him unwillingly throwing a fight for the unscrupulous Lord Featherington to get the cut money. Mondrich and his wife, however, are running their own private club in the series and have found some upward momentum in society that puts them into the same social circles as the Bridgertons.

Imhangbe is possibly the tallest actor on set at an impressive 6 feet 3 inches, which is several inches more than Page himself. His stature lends well to the athletic nature of the character. Imhangbe is best known for his work in the theater, which relies more on body movement than facial expressions to tell a story so that likely informs his work as Mondrich as well.

The Shortest Actors In The Bridgerton Cast

Ruby Barker, 5 Ft. 6

Life has not been kind to Marina Thompson, a distant cousin of the Featherington family, in this lavish, period-costume drama. Marina comes to stay with the Featheringtons in the first season supposedly to be introduced to the ton during the social season as a favor. In reality, the Featheringtons are footing the bill for her introduction to society and the marriage mart because Baron Featherington owes her father money. What Marina doesn’t tell anyone right away is that she’s already pregnant with the baby of a soldier she’s been in love with.

Marina tries to find love with Colin Bridgerton to hide her “condition,” and she ends up attracting a lot more attention than the other Featherington women until Lady Whistledown exposes her secrets. She ends up marrying the soldier’s brother after the love of her life dies on the battlefield, and she leaves a big impression during her short time on the show. The actor is not particularly short, but still shorter than many at 5 feet 6 inches tall.

Phoebe Dynevor, 5 Ft. 5

There are many reasons Daphne and Simon proved to be soulmates in Bridgerton, especially when Daphne started off by showing her meeker side, but she ultimately proved to be feisty and completely capable of making her own decisions without her brother or husband making them for her. Daphne is a large presence during the social season. In the first Bridgerton season, she is named the season’s “diamond,” and her courtship with the Duke takes the ton by storm. In the second season, she is the one who can see the love blossoming between Anthony and Kate that everyone else cannot.

Daphne’s large presence will likely be missed in upcoming seasons of the show, but it’s unlikely she’ll be returning to Bridgerton since she and the Duke live on a property away from the rest of her family. As Daphne, the petite Phoebe Dynevor is about 5 feet 5 inches, making her one of the shorter actors on set.

Adjoa Andoh, 5 Ft 4

The matriarch Lady Danbury is not someone to cross. She is for all intents and purposes, like a mother to the young Duke of Hastings, having given him love, and a home when his own father didn’t want him. Her age and life experience help to make her a looming presence in the social scene of Bridgerton. Though Lady Danbury isn’t someone looking for a husband or attempting to marry off any of her own relatives in the early seasons of the show, she is always in the thick of the gossip and keeping her eyes on the scandals.

However formidable her character is, actor Adjoa Andoh stands at a rather short stature of 5 feet 4, although one wouldn’t know it by looking at her. She certainly stands tall as Landy Danbury in Bridgerton.

Sabrina Bartlett, 5 Ft. 2

Sabrina Bartlett plays Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s secret lover in the first season of the show, although she isn’t so much of a secret after all. Bartlett is tiny at only 5 feet 2, although her character’s booming soprano voice and spirited nature put her right on par with actors of greater height. Sienna Rosso is an opera singer engaging in shenanigans with the bad (but redeemable) Anthony, and is a victim of that moody, although perhaps ultimately well-meaning young man’s perpetual confusion.

Sienna deciding to break it off for good allows Anthony to search for a wife in season 2.

As much as he wants to be with her in the first season, his duty often calls him away (with his mother knowing that he’s seeing the soprano when he’s supposed to be escorting the family to events), and Sienna takes a practical approach – finding someone who she can be with freely and publicly instead. Sienna deciding to break it off for good allows Anthony to search for a wife in season 2 and allows Sienna more peace of mind.

Nicola Coughlan, 5 Ft.

Penelope Featherington might have a massive secret up her sleeve — she has, after all, been revealed to be Lady Whistledown — but Nicola Coughlan is the shortest actor in Bridgerton at 5-feet tall. It’s fitting that Coughlan is the shortest of the cast, since her character is often described as a wallflower and someone the others don’t pay much attention to. Her small stature also allows Coughlan to play a much younger role with Penelope in her teen years, debuting in society in the first season, while Coughlan is in her thirties in reality.

Of course, that small stature might not be as much of an issue in season 3 of Bridgerton. That season, which centers on Colin and Penelope, sees the latter undergo a makeover to make her really stand out among the ton instead of blending in with her older sisters.
