Jace dies House Dragon

Jace is such a ray of sunshine on House of the Dragon, and despite being a while away I’m still in denial about the fact he dies at some point. Really they should have just let him and Helaena marry each other, then literally everything would have been sorted. Honestly, the worst thing when Jace dies in House of the Dragon is that there will be nobody for Aemond to have a mewing contest with. What a cruel world we live in.

There are obviously some serious spoilers ahead so this is your last chance to bail out if you don’t want to find out how Jace dies in the House of the Dragon. Alrighty now it’s all safe let’s get the tissues ready and find out how one of the most wholesome and iconic characters in House of the Dragon meets his tragic end.

Jace’s death takes place during the brutal Battle of the Gullet, one of the bloodiest battles in Westeros’ history. Jace and four other dragon riders fly into battle and he rides his dragon Vermax to try and take down the ships of Triarchy. According to the book, Vermax flies too low either from an arrow in the eye or as the result of being pulled down to the water.

As such Vermax is unable to swerve around the oncoming ships and crashes into one, immediately killing him. Luckily, Jace is able to jump off of Vermax before he crashes and falls into the water. But he is far from safe as he clings onto a floating wooden plank in the water, making him an easy and defenceless target. Some of the Triarchy soldiers spot him and begin firing crossbow bolts at him. Enough of these hit Jace to make him lose his grip on the plank and slowly drown, with his body being lost at sea. As deaths go it’s a particularly heartbreaking one.
