Orphan Black has become one of the most popular sci-fi series in recent years. This summer, the spinoff series Orphan Black: Echoes is set to premiere on AMC, AMC+, and BBC America. AMC recently released the first trailer for the upcoming sci-fi series, which follows Lucy, portrayed by Krysten Ritter, known as Marvel’s Jessica Jones.

The trailer starts with a sardonic voiceover by Lucy, “My name is Lucy. I like SpaghettiOs, long walks on the beach, and I have an almost pathological desire to avoid talking about the past.”

Orphan Black: Echoes jumps forward to 2052 and once again dives deep into the ethical dilemma of manipulating human existence through cloning.

However, the past always finds a way to catch up, and Lucy is quickly on the run from dangerous forces. The fast-paced trailer jumps from one scene to another, hinting at a rather thrilling journey, when Lucy encounters another woman who is strangely familiar to her. The tagline ‘How far would you go to discover who you are?’ is just enough intrigue to hook the viewers and hint at a vast conspiracy just like in the original series.

With a touch of dark humor in Lucy’s voice and subsequent actions seen in the first trailer, Orphan Black: Echoes promises to be a worthy spinoff to the original series.
