The final episode of ‘The Acolyte’ featured two major cameos: Darth Plagueis and the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Yoda. Headland reportedly had to advocate strongly to include Yoda in the show, due to concerns about his involvement in other projects and his character’s reputation.
With all the storylines of ‘The Acolyte’ Season 1 wrapped up, these cameos lay a solid foundation for a potential Season 2, as confirmed by Headland.
In her interview with Entertainment Weekly, Headland revealed that both cameos were included deliberately and hint at exciting developments to come.
I think it sets up future storylines that could be really compelling.
The show’s creator also hinted that Yoda might assist Vernestra Rwoh in covering up the incident involving her rogue Jedi Padawan. This could explain why the Jedi were unaware of the Sith’s existence a century later, during the events of ‘The Phantom Menace.’ Additionally, she revealed that Plagueis and Yoda are intended to serve as counterpoints to each other.
If you were going to introduce Plagueis, then you needed a formidable other side of that. As somebody that knows who Plagueis is and knows where the lineage of the Sith is headed, it would be imbalanced if you didn’t have somebody on the light side who carried as much gravitas. So, to me it just made sense.
Headland has mentioned that discussions about a second season are underway, though it’s still too early to determine if the show will continue. She encouraged fans to leave positive reviews online and advised newcomers to the franchise to overlook the IMDb rating. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments below!
