Adam Driver took a shot at Star Wars during his latest Saturday Night Live monologue. The actor blamed wokeness for the death of Han Solo as he recited his Christmas wish list to Santa while playing the piano. “I would like people to stop coming up to me on the street saying, ‘You killed Han Solo!’” he said. “I didn’t kill him. Wokeness killed Han Solo.”
Wokeness Killed Han Solo?
The comedic remark from Adam Driver alludes to his portrayal of Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel movies The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker. In The Force Awakens, Kylo Ren is responsible for the death of Han Solo in a dramatic and emotional scene, which sparked considerable controversy among fans of the faraway galaxy.
The scene takes place on the Starkiller Base, where Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) confronts Han Solo (Harrison Ford), who has been attempting to bring his son back to the light side of the Force. During their confrontation, Han tells his son to come back home. Kylo, torn by his internal conflict, initially seems to consider it. But Ren ultimately uses his lightsaber to impale his father, fully embracing the dark side.
Adam Driver Still Receives Complaints
This isn’t the first time Adam Driver talked about how his Star Wars role impacted his life. During an appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? the actor said he was reminded about the scene by fans “every day.” Luckily, complaints about the moment have dwindled to “probably once a month,” but it remains evident that people are still unhappy with the creative direction of The Force Awakens.
Adam Driver’s Busy Career Away From Star Wars
Despite rising to prominence with his role as Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequels, Adam Driver hasn’t dedicated much time to reflecting on his involvement in the franchise. In 2021, he graced the screen in House of Gucci and The Last Duel, followed by the 2022 release White Noise. Earlier this year, Driver appeared in sci-fi venture 65, where he played a space pilot stranded on a prehistoric planet.
Adam Driver In Ferrari
In his most recent film, a departure from the Star Wars universe, Adam Driver plays Enzo Ferrari in Michael Mann’s biopic titled Ferrari. While earning acclaim for his portrayal of the automotive entrepreneur, the movie faced criticism for alleged “cultural appropriation” from Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino, who questioned his casting.
Per Variety, Ferrari premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and will be released in cinemas on December 25. Based on the 1991 biography Enzo Ferrari: The Man, the Cars, the Races, the Machine, the story follows the personal and professional struggles of Enzo Ferrari. Penélope Cruz, Shailene Woodley, Sarah Gadon, Gabriel Leone, Jack O’Connell, and Patrick Dempsey star alongside Adam Driver.
Adam Driver In Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis

The ensemble cast also includes Forest Whitaker, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jason Schwartzman, Nathalie Emmanuel, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Grace VanderWaal, Kathryn Hunter, Talia Shire, Dustin Hoffman, D. B. Sweeney, and Giancarlo Esposito.Set in New York, the story follows a woman named Julia Cisero who is torn between her father, who has a more traditional view of society, and her architect lover Caesar (Adam Driver), who, with his progressive outlook, wants to rebuild New York City as a utopia after a disaster.
