A fairy tale must come to life.
While Bridgerton has yet to confirm or deny any fan theories about who will be next in season 4, fans definitely have their favorites. Since Francesca’s story was just set up to begin, chances are she won’t be next. Judging by a number of clues and hints left over from season 3, it’s a close call between Benedict and Eloise, with Benedict holding a slight lead.
Since Bridgerton has changed the narrative from Julia Quinn’s original novels quite a bit, chances are that the love story of Benedict and Sophie Beckett will undergo some changes as well. However, there are some truly iconic moments that no one should take away from the book. Here are 8 of them that fans simply won’t accept the season without.
The Masquerade Ball
Given the season 3 finale and a dialogue between Benedict and Eloise, it’s safe to say that the ball will happen, Benedict will be there, and so must be his romantic interest, the Lady in Silver. No one really knows who this lady will end up being, given Benedict’s self-exploration arc, but this Cinderella-esque iconic meeting of two lovers will remain unchanged.
Benedict Saving Sophie
A big aspect of An Offer from a Gentleman, the original novel, is Sophie’s struggle to go through life as a woman. She faces all kinds of abuse, rooted in both classism and misogyny.
In one such situation, she fears for her life, but Benedict comes through, rescues her, and makes sure she gets to safety. At last, we may get to see the ever-smiling, gentle and humorous second brother snap and show his teeth.
My Cottage
Although it is not a specific moment, but rather a very important location, fans hope and pray that the writers will not try to change the story and get rid of it.
My Cottage is a country house owned by Benedict Bridgerton. It is quite far from Mayfair and is mostly occupied by a sweet couple, a housekeeper, and her husband. Benedict and Sophie find shelter from the storm and thus the romance begins.
Sophie Saving Benedict
Sophie and Benedict are equally caring and passionate, and they cannot leave anyone in trouble. After the storm, Benedict comes down with a bad fever, and Sophie, left alone with him, must make sure he comes out of it alive. Previous Bridgerton seasons have had their share of dramatic moments, but not nearly as many life-or-death deals.
The Lake Scene
Although Benedict and Sophie’s Book has as many sexy scenes as any of the previous ones had, there is one in particular that viewers – and Luke Thompson, who portrays Benedict – want to come to life the most.
Still staying in a cabin, Benedict, the free spirit that he is, jumps into a lake completely naked, only for Sophie to catch him. You can imagine the tension.
Sophie’s Unfortunate Encounter
At the beginning of the book, we learn about the way Sophie was treated by her stepmother and stepsister. After being banished from the house, she has to find a job and ends up in a tricky situation that Benedict saves her from. However, when she’s moved into Violet’s dowager house to become Eloise’s maid, she has to face the family that tortured her again.
It is by no means a sweet or happy moment, but an extremely important one for her character development.
Sophie’s Farewell to Violet
Violet has always been the most understanding mother to her children, and Benedict is no exception. She is quick to notice the feelings between him and Sophie, and has the most heartfelt conversation with Sophie when she decides she can no longer work under her roof.
The bond between Violet and Sophie is almost as special as her bond with Benedict, and Bridgerton must do justice to it.
Violet vs. Araminta
Violet Bridgerton is also crucial to the very finale of the book. She quickly puts Sophie’s stepmother in her place and secures the couple the future of love and happiness they deserve. Considering how sweet and gentle Violet has been on the show so far, it would be an interesting change for all fans to see. Go, Mama Bear!
