In a post on her Instagram page, Boniadi tried to clarify the real reasons for her departure. Alongside a photo of her in a sunny field, Boniadi explained that she did not exit to focus on her advocacy efforts, but instead, she discussed her love for Bronwyn as a character, especially considering Bronwyn’s love for advocacy efforts. She also explained that she plans to share more about her future projects shortly. Check out her full quote below:
I made the choice not to return for season two of ‘Rings of Power.’ This was unrelated to my subsequent decision to prioritize my advocacy. Throughout my career, the values I have held most dear are honesty, empathy and integrity. My character Bronwyn was committed to these same ideals in striving for a fairer world, which is why I connected so deeply with her. I look forward to sharing my latest projects with you soon.
Nazanin Boniadi Will Not Portray Bronwyn In Season 2
Bronwyn Has Not Been Recast
The Rings of Power was not Boniadi’s first major project, as she previously starred in General Hospital, Counterpart, 2016’s Ben-Hur, 2018’s Hotel Mumbai, and 2019’s Bombshell. She also appeared in the original Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Iron Man, in 2008. Boniadi’s decision to move on from The Rings of Power could be a sign that she was invited to an even more high-profile or prominent role, and her statement that she will share more soon means that a new role is a definite possibility.
As for Boniadi’s character, Bronwyn, previous reports indicated that Bronwyn has not been recast. The character may not appear in The Rings of Power season 2 at all, despite the fact that she is Theo’s mother and Arondir’s potentially ongoing partner. Because the show is now focusing more on Halbrand’s ascension as Sauron, Bronwyn may not be wholly necessary for the narrative. She could be written out of the show with a simple reference from the other characters, but it would be somewhat of a disservice to her character.
Though Boniadi did not leave The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power solely to continue her advocacy work, she is likely to put additional time into fighting for the #WomenLifeFreedom cause. She previously indicated on her Instagram that she chose to stop acting in September 2022 in order to focus on advocacy. She returned for A Mosquito in the Ear, which is still in post-production, but she will continue attempting to support the Iranian people. For various reasons, Boniadi left the show, and Bronwyn is unlikely to appear in future seasons.
