The Walking Dead: Dead City began filming for its second season in April 2024. Filming for the season that is expected to premiere in 2025 has been relocated from New Jersey to Massachusetts. Actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who has portrayed Negan Smith since season 6 of the flagship series, has been quite active on social media recently. One exciting tidbit he recently shared is that his co-star Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Rhee, will direct an episode in the second season of Dead City.
Morgan and Cohan served as executive producers for the first season of Dead City. They were joined by TWD Chief Content Officer Scott M. Gimple, comic story creator Robert Kirkman, and TWD veterans David Alpert, Gale Anne Hurd, Brian Bockrath, and showrunner Eli Jorné. This marked the first time Morgan and Cohan served in this capacity within The Walking Dead universe.
Below is a recent Tweet (or whatever we call them now that the platform is called X) from JDM who is all smiles as he embraces Cohan. The caption confirms that Cohan will direct during Dead City’s upcoming season. He later replied to a fan, who incorrectly stated she would be directing episode 4, that she would be directing the sixth episode.
