Does that mean we’re getting season 2?

If you thought the period drama genre was experiencing a renaissance on various streaming platforms, you would be right. Set in a heavily fictionalized version of the past, the shows that vary in exact time period and main characters have slowly but surely won over television audiences.

Whether you prefer the romantic haze of Bridgerton and The Buccaneers, or enjoy the war between old money and industrialization of the Gilded Age, there is now a story for everyone on the market. One of the most impressive shows in the genre was Prime Video ‘s My Lady Jane, and yet it has not seen the news of renewal. Now, however, it may be a little closer.

Is Renegade Nell Renewed for Season 2?

Even though the streamers offer a wide array of ongoing period dramas, Sally Wainwright’s Renegade Nell was unique in its own right. The show followed a young woman who was framed for murder and pushed to become an actual criminal, robbing travelers on their way through the woods.

Not only was the show unique due to following a lady who ended up in an unexpected adventurous setting, but it also incorporated magical elements into the story, just like My Lady Jane had done. Nelly’s loyal companion, a magical sprite called Billy Blind, was a key element to her story. However, it wasn’t meant to see another year.

The show has not been renewed for a second season, but has been canceled after the first one on Disney Plus. That decision naked Prime Video’s My Lady Jane, the only period drama with fantasy elements standing, which must affect its chances for getting renewed.

Will There Be My Lady Jane Season 2?

To say that My Lady Jane blew everyone away when it came out would have been an understatement. The perfect chemistry between the show’s leads, Emily Bader and Edward Bluemel, is enhanced by the talented writing, and all of the historical figures the show uses thrive in a world where anything is possible.

The first season has now earned a 94% Rotten Tomatoes rating, and viewers have been very vocal about their desire to see the show renewed. However, to this day, Prime Video continues to keep everyone in the dark about the show’s future.

The news of Renegade Nelly’s cancellation clears the way for My Lady Jane to be the only show with this unique set of genres. So if you think the show deserves another installment, keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
