After Cardi B’s close friend, Star Brim was sentenced to serve time in prison as she pleaded guilty to the RICO charges, the Instagram personality finally turned herself in after she requested the judge to delay her surrender. As per Hot New Hip Hop, Star Brim’s date of surrender was previously set as July 1.
However, upon her request to postpone the same, as she wanted to take her son to school on the first day of kindergarten, Star Brim’s date of surrender was set for a later time. Furthermore, on her last night of freedom, she was seen with Cardi B. The rapper also started an Instagram Live before her arrest and spoke a few words of encouragement for her friend, Brim.
Getting all emotional, Cardi B said:
“This is a reset. Cuz when she graduates from big girl school, it’s going to be a whole brand new everything. It’s like we have grown up. You have become such a different person, and it’s just like, I really want people to hear her story and it’s so inspirational.”
Further in the live session, Cardi was seen getting teary-eyed, as she then asked her friend to “cut the camera.”
As per Vibe, Star Brim, whose real name is Yonette Respass, would be serving one year, and one day in prison, after which, she will be on three years of supervised probation. Born in 1991, Brim is a well-known Instagram model, who also hosted several events, and also showed her life as a bartender occasionally.

On the other hand, Cardi B added to this and claimed that while her friend remains in solidarity, she will also accept challenges, and put herself in “uncomfortable” situations. The rapper vowed:
“If she going to be uncomfortable, I’mma put myself in situations where I’m uncomfortable.”
It is worth noting that Brim, along with 17 other gang members were accused of several crimes, and were sentenced on RICO charges in February 2020. As per Vibe, Brim was often called the gang’s “godmother.” The publication also mentioned that she was allegedly active in a racketeering conspiracy.
Furthermore, other members have also been charged with murders. However, it is not clear if Brim too has a murder charge against her.
