Tory Lanez may have another chance to appeal his conviction in the Megan Thee Stallion shooting case.
“The court has read and considered Petitioner Daystar Peterson’s June 21, 2024 motion for relevant evidence brought pursuant to penal code section 745, subdivision (d), and the people’s June 26, 2024 opposition to Peterson’s motion for discovery,” the legal filing states.
“Good reason appearing, the motion for discovery will be considered together with Peterson’s pending petition for writ of habeas corpus filed on December 12, 2023,” the document concludes.
As we reported earlier, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in August 2023 after he was found guilty of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion in the feet during an argument after a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in Los Angeles in 2020.
He has since continued to fight for his innocence in the case. After the conviction, Tory shared a message to fans following his transfer to a state prison in California.
“Ayo Umbrellas, man, what’s good?” the message starts, with Lanez using his nickname for his fanbase. “I’m talking to you live from prison right now. Man, I’m just happy to get out that bullshit county jail. They was hating on a young fly n***a, you heard? Had me on 24-hour lockdown, half-sized cell by myself. No windows, no mirrors. N***a ain’t even seen himself in a whole year. But with all them disadvantages against me, my head is always been held high, man.”
At the time, Lanez said he was “in great spirits” despite reports that he feared for his life inside North Kern State Prison in Delano, Calif.
In June, Tory’s wife filed for divorce less than one year after marriage.
