Rapper GloRilla shared a DM she received from singer Rihanna on a July 2 Instagram post while Rihanna acknowledged it was ‘hypocritical’ make a certain request and fans seemed to agree

Rihanna had a request that gave her fans deja vu.

On July 2, GloRilla made an Instagram post with images from her 2024 BET Awards after-party on Sunday which she captioned, “Ayyeeeee.” The carousel of photos showcased how star-studded the event was as GloRilla hung out with Megan Thee Stallion, Coco Jones and many more. Although, the last photo in the carousel was a screenshot of a DM from Rihanna. The Kiss It Better singer had a album question for the rapper which she coined “wild hyprocritical” in the message.

Rihanna asked: “You got all summer sis! I know dis wild hypocritical, but when the album drop?”

GloRilla did not show her response to Rihanna’s query but she did heart the message as the screenshot shows. But this was not the first time the two have had public interactions. Last week on June 29, Rihanna posted a viral video on Instagram of her rapping along with to GloRilla’s hit song TGIF to beau A$AP Rocky. The 24-year-old Memphis native posted the IG video on her page with the caption: “Omg RIRIIIIIIII. @badgalriri I luv youuuuuuuuuuyyy.” She had a lot of crying and red flaming heart emojis in between the words.

RiRi fans were not having it with the mother-of-two as they were quite familiar with asking her the same question for ages now. They’ve been waiting for her next album, R9, to come out. 2016’s Anti was Rihanna’s last album.

Underneath the comments, fans threw shade at Rihanna for her “nerve” and “audacity” which some found amusing. One fan wrote: “Not RiRi with all the nerve. that’s so cute! Proud of you BIG GLO” A second fan said: “Ri asking for an album is diabolical asf.” Another said:” i would have sent the reverse uno card to riri bc wdym” A fourth fan said “IS THE AUDACITYYYYYYYY IN THE ROOM WITH US?!? A fifth fan exclaimed: “That DM from Rihanna is hilarious. ‘I know this is hypocritical.’ LMAOOOOO!!”

Last month, The 36-year-old spoke to Entertainment Tonight, and gave an update on the status of much-anticipated ninth album.

“I think that music, for me, is a new discovery,” she said. “I’m rediscovering things. I have been working on the album for so long that I kinda put all that stuff aside and now I’m prepared to go back in the studio. I’m gonna start — give me a second!”

She also confirmed in response to the reporter that she is “starting over” with the album but won’t “neglect” the existing songs. She’ll re-listen and see “what applies” and what she still loves.
