Queen of Rap is Back: Nicki Minaj Overtakes Doja Cat, Ties Cardi B for Top Spot

Rap Queen Nicki Minaj continues to get shiny Gold and Platinum gifts from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) to add to her already well-decorated crown!

The same day Nicki learned she earned her history-making third Diamond plaque from the RIAA for her 2012 hit ‘Starships‘ soaring past the 10-million sold mark, she was also penciled in the organization’s logs for breaking or tying other major records as well.

As previously reported, Minaj not only tied Cardi B for most Diamond-certified singles among female rappers but she also invaded the ‘Invasion of Privacy‘ hitmaker’s record for highest-certified album of the century among femcees.

At the time of this report the Harajuku Barbie’s sophomore album, ‘Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,’ sits at 4x Platinum (for sales of 4 million) just like ‘Privacy.’

The overall record belongs to Lauryn Hill‘s whose 1998 debut solo album ‘Miseducation‘ sits at over 10 million sold.

Fellow award-winning rapstress Doja Cat ended October with good news that she had broken Nicki’s record for most Gold-certified singles among female rappers.

Not even a month later, Minaj has snatched the title back as she now has 26 songs certified as high while Cat remains at 25.

Note: the RIAA does not include an artists’ featured hits in their respective career counts (unlike Billboard).

The latest slew of record-breaking achievements push Minaj’s cumulative sales to 65.5 million in the United States – making her the best-selling female rapper of all time in the country.
