Peter Gallagher Praises Former Onscreen Son Adam Brody Amid Renaissance: “I'm Proud of Him All the Time”

Peter Gallagher continues to be proud of his former The OC co-star, Adam Brody, following the success of his Netflix comedy Nobody Wants This.

Gallagher played Brody’s TV dad in the Fox drama for four seasons and recently shared his sentiment over his hit show.

“I wouldn’t go as far as being a proud dad, and I haven’t seen the show, but I’m proud of him all the time as his friend and former TV dad,” Gallagher told People. “And I’m not surprised at all [of the renaissance]. He’s so talented and I’m glad he’s still doing his thing.”

Gallagher played Sandy Cohen in the Josh Schwartz-created drama, which premiered on Fox in 2003. Brody was Seth Cohen, Gallagher’s son obsessed with comic books and pop culture.

Twenty years after the debut of The OC, Brody finds himself starring in another hit show, this time for Netflix. Nobody Wants This premiered in September and quickly became one of the most-watched shows on the streaming platform.

The show, created by Erin Foster, is about an unexpected relationship between an agnostic woman and a rogue rabbi, and it has already secured a second season.

“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,” Foster said following the Season 2 pickup. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed.”

Nobody Wants This stars Brody as rabbi Noah Roklov and Kristen Bell as podcaster Kristen Bell. The series also stars Justine Lupe and Timothy Simons, with recurring roles for Stephanie Faracy, Tovah Feldshuh, Paul Ben-Victor, Jackie Tohn, Emily Arlook, Sherry Cola, Shilo Bearman, and Stephen Tobolowsky.
