Emily in Paris fans have made the same demand over Lucien Laviscount’s character Alfie following season four’s release.
The first five episodes of the new season dropped on August 15, with the second instalment due on Thursday September 12. It saw protagonist Emily (Lily Collins) choose French chef Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) over British finance guy Alfie, who only features in the first few episodes.
Now fans have taken to Reddit to demand more of him. Posting in the show’s subreddit, one person reckoned: “If no one is going to say if, I am. We need an Alfie in (insert city) Spin off.” They suggested: “A broken hearted Alfie movies to San Francisco (you know, he’s British, San Francisco is in US…) and starts a new life… Which city would you choose?”
Other fans were in agreement and quick to share their suggestions. “I’d like to see it,” one said, adding: “Come to NYC Alfie”. Another suggested: “Italy would be a good option though if Antoine expands the perfume business.” A third said: “I could see him in Dubai. Somewhere full of wealthy young men who want to live in excess.” A fourth demanded: “If Emily doesn’t end up with Alfie, I need this.”
Fans had previously shared that they wanted to see more of Alfie on X, formerly Twitter. As one fan put it: “F*** Emily in Paris .. Tell me more about Alfie in Paris”. A second admitted: “I cannot watch Emily in Paris because they did Alfie so wrong every single time that man is a lover boy he is a true gentleman and they do him dirty every single time. It makes me mad.” A third said: “I’ll maybe be really enjoying this season of Emily in Paris if i get to keep watching Alfie.”
Lucien Laviscount made a major revelation about his character Alfie on Capital Breakfast
Laviscount previously told Capital FM he was only meant to feature in two episodes of the hit Netflix series. We were first introduced to Alfie when Emily took French language classes in season two and the duo were assigned to be study partners.
Speaking to Jordan North, Kemi Rodgers and Chris Stark ahead of season four part one, he teased it would be a ‘little bit chaotic’, a ‘little bit of a rollercoaster’ and ‘heartbreaking’ for Alfie. He then revealed: “I was only supposed to do two episodes. I remember it was supposed to be my last day, I got this little round of applause, and then Darren Star, the creator, comes in and says, ‘Lucien, you’re not leaving Paris.’”
When asked why he thought producers wanted to keep Alfie on, Laviscount candidly responded: “I have no idea! I’ve just got to thank the acting Gods that are out there somewhere in the ether, and yeah, I guess just working with Lily as well, I think maybe we just had a good kind of relationship on set, and they wanted to keep me around.”
Emily in Paris season four part one is available to stream now on Netflix. Part two drops on Thursday September 12.
