There have been multiple actors who have donned the iconic red cape. The most popular and fan-favorite was Henry Cavill’s Superman in Man of Steel, released in 2013. Despite the former’s popularity with the fans, the hype seems to be building steadily around David Corenswet’s upcoming Superman.

After the release of the trailer recently, fans got to watch a glimpse of what David Corenswet brings to the table. Naturally, this sparked conversations about who is the better Superman and whether the new Superman is going to have good chemistry with the new Batman.

In light of James Gunn’s latest Superman movie, some fans have started criticizing Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck for their on-screen chemistry in Zack Snyder’s DCEU. However, due to the darker direction of the story, there was little space left to explore their relationship.

In the comics, Batman and Superman take up a bigger role in the Justice League. Whereas, Snyder’s movies so far provided an equal platform to all the core characters aside from Batman who initiated the Justice League.

The performances of Zack Snyder’s Superman and Batman were nothing short of amazing. The success of the movies proves that. The actors of the characters worked well together on-screen and were cast perfectly for the dark and gritty direction style of Snyder. Hence, these are simply bogus claims.

A screentest should be run for the new Batman and Superman

The excitement surrounding James Gunn’s DCU cannot be contained, especially after the release of the trailer. Fans are going wild to see what’s to come. So far it is widely agreed that David Corenswet looks great on-screen as the new Superman. Given the strong bond between Batman and Superman in the comics, there is one major question that is left unanswered. Will David Corenswet’s Superman work well with the new Batman?

Fans don’t know who the new Batman will be. But, in light of the recent criticisms about Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck’s chemistry, it seems like a great idea to screentest Corenswet’s Superman with potential actors in the running to play Batman. The stage is already set. All we can do is wait for the curtains to drop.

Superman, directed by James Gunn, is set to release on July 11, 2025.
