Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are believed to have bought a new home in Portugal, which could pave the way for the couple’s two children to spend time with their grandfather, King Charles.
Meghan Markle “may give her blessing” for a Royal reconciliation with King Charles, but insists on one key term.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are understood to have snapped up a new property in Portugal, are sparking speculation amongst supporters that this strategic move could bridge the gap between them and the Royal Family – sidestepping a return to UK soil.
Even though the Duchess, aged 43, is said to harbour reservations about their new European base – despite Harry’s previous assertion that Meghan would “never” set foot back in Britain – sources claim this relocation could pave the way for young Archie and Lilibet to reconnect with their grandfather.
After relocating to California post-Megxit in 2020, five year old Archie and three year old sister Lilibet have largely been absent from British life. However, it seems Meghan may now be open to the idea of visits to the UK, contingent on one specific factor.
An insider disclosed to Closer: “Now, if it is deemed safe from a security standpoint, it’s likely she’ll give her blessing for Harry to take Archie and Lilibet to see their grandpa, King Charles, at some point.”, reports Gloucestershire Live.
They added: “And in terms of logistics, having a place in Portugal will make that easier, because Meghan can fly over with the kids without feeling trapped.”
Discussing Meghan Markle’s recent purchase of a property in Portugal, the source said it was a “shrewd move”, mentioning: “She’s deeply concerned that the Royal Family might manipulate Harry into reintegrating without her, so she needs to be proactive to make sure she’s not isolated or pushed to the sidelines.”
Since the couple stepped back from their senior Royal duties in 2020, Meghan has only visited the UK twice, whereas Prince Harry has made several trips on his own.
The Duchess of Sussex last visited Britain in September 2022 for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, after making her first post-Megxit journey to the country for the Platinum Jubilee in June of that year.
Archie, their first child born in 2019, spent his early months at Frogmore Cottage before the family’s move to the United States.
Meanwhile, Lilibet, their daughter, has never lived in the UK, having been born in Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in California in 2021.
