Megan Thee Stallion has always represented her home turf with pride, and her most recent concert involved some assists from veterans of the region.
On Friday (June 14), the 29-year-old performed the first of two sold-out shows at the Toyota Center in Houston as part of her ongoing Hot Girl Summer Tour.
During the explosive set, she set aside a moment to honor the OGs who have emerged from the metropolis. Orchestrating the ultimate hat trick, Meg brought out Lil Keke (to perform “Southside”), Slim Thug (for “Still Trippin’”) and Bun B (for “Int’l Player’s Anthem [I Choose You]” by UGK) in succession.
Her Texas shows have been exciting so far, as she welcomed Paul Wall to the stage during her set at the Moody Center in Austin the night before.
Megan Thee Stallion and GloRilla are currently touring the United States together, and their relationship seems to have grown stronger on the road.
Earlier this week, the Houston Hottie shared a bundle of pictures from her ongoing trek, behind-the-scenes escapades and personal life. In addition to expressing her gratitude for her backup dancers and fans in the caption, the rapper also made it a point to shout out her “Wanna Be” collaborator.
“I love the bond that me and @glorillapimp have built in these past few weeks !” she wrote. “You are my sister 4L , you and cola never getting rid of me.”
In the comments, the Memphis native responded: “I luv you 4L Meg. I’m so glad I got to do dis tour with you I wouldn’t have had it no other way. I can’t wait for dem to hear dat hot shit ahhhh so excited.”
Though she seems to be in a positive state of mind now, Meg broke down during a show in Tampa, Florida over the weekend.
The Traumazine hitmaker performed at the Amalie Arena last week, becoming visibly overwhelmed with emotion as she performed her blockbuster hit “Cobra.”
Fans attending the show captured the tearful moment on camera, with footage showing the superstar attempting to perform the song while repeatedly choking up. At one point, she could even be seen holding her head in her hand as she sobbed.
“I’ma give you this performance without tearing up,” she said, letting the first few lines of the song play before taking over the microphone.
