Megan Thee Stallion is sharing the impact of her mother’s influence as her career took off and how she’s struggled with her passing.

In the trailer for her upcoming documentary Megan Thee Stallion: In Her Words, Megan shares how she was overwhelmed by so many challenges.

“I’m not having fun right now, and I don’t want to do it,” Megan said. “And I feel like how could I be Megan Thee Stallion, and I’m not having fun.”

As the trailer goes on, it shows Megan sharing special moments with her mother.

“I wouldn’t be here without my mom My mom was like a gangsta rapper,” she said. “I was like, ‘When I get older I really want to be like her.’”

Following her mother’s death from cancer in 2019, Megan said she was “in shambles” as she tried to come to terms with it.

“I think I really forgot who I was. And when life started getting crazy, I didn’t have her,” Megan said.

She also said that she felt betrayed and experienced “backlash” after being shot by Tory Lanez. The Canadian rapper was found guilty of the crime and sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2023.

“I had really had like a real breakdown,” Megan said while crying and being comforted in the clip.

At the end of the trailer, Megan shows her strength, determination, and perseverance as she plans to be her best self.

“I’ve been going through sh*t, but I’ve been getting through sh*t,” Megan said.
