One thing Lucien Laviscount has learned from his parents is that there is no rush to get married – even if you’ve been with someone for decades.

In a new interview with US media, the 32-year-old Emily in Paris heartthrob opened up about his mum and dad’s long-term relationship and revealed that they’d only recently tied the knot.

“My mum and dad got married last year,” he told Page Six. “They’ve been together for 38, 39 years. So marriage has never really been a massive kind of thing.”

Lucien rarely talks about his family, especially his parents, Sonia and Eugene Laviscount, in interviews. Nevertheless, here’s what we do know about them …

Laviscount hails from the picturesque Ribble Valley in Lancashire, England, as reported by Cosmopolitan. Per Page Six, he has an Antiguan background. “I love Caribbean food,” he said in his interview. “I don’t think my taste buds have changed too much, although I do love my snails now.”

While his character Alfie in Emily in Paris has a cockney accent, his real-life one is Lancastrian, as evidenced by TV interviews he’s given on shows like This Morning.

In an interview with iNews, Laviscount shared that his bodybuilder parents met in the 1980s, when his Antiguan dad Eugene was judging his mum Sonia in a competition.

“My dad placed my mum second,” he told the publication. “So when they went out for a few drinks afterwards my mum had a few words … I better not say too much about that night but that’s how me and my brothers came about!” Sonia is a former Miss Universe, adds the source.

As seen on Eugene’s Facebook page, the bodybuilder won several impressive titles in his heyday, including Mr. South East England, British Champion and European Champion, and was also a two-time World Champion. It adds that he currently works at the NAC UK Bodybuilding Federation. He and his wife used to run a gym called Body & Fitness Health Studios in Lancashire, but it has since closed, notes Distractify.

Does Lucien Laviscount have siblings?

According to Distractify, Sonia and Eugene have three sons in total: Louis, Lucien and Jules Laviscount.

They have always been very supportive. Lucien told iNews that his parents “gave us boys nothing but love, support and endless encouragement”. Staying healthy was also an important part of their childhood. “They’ll always ask me, even now: ‘Are you sleeping? Are you eating right? Are you drinking enough water?’ Beyond that they push us to be our best at whatever we want,” he told the publication.

In an interview with Harry Connick Jr, Lucien recounted a story from his childhood that put him on his path to fame. During a shopping trip with his mother aged just 10, he boldly asked out a “beautiful” 18 year old shop assistant.

The confident display caught the attention of a casting agent who was also in the shop at the time, and who told his mum he should audition for a campaign she was involved in. It turned out to be a Marks & Spencer children’s clothing line created by none other than David Beckham.

Laviscount and Shakira, who’s 15 years older than him, have been linked since March, after the Scream Queens alum starred as Shakira’s love interest in her “Puntería” music video with Cardi B. The pair gave the romance rumours legs when they were then seen together at Carbone in New York City. It’s unclear whether they are seeing each other, though he did tell iNews that he thinks she is “one of the most incredible, beautiful, hard-working women I’ve met in my entire life”.

According to CapitalFM, the handsome star has previously been linked to Jesy Nelson, Kelly Osbourne and actress Keke Palmer.
