The actor opened up about her hopes for the next season in Rome.
Emily in Paris‘ Lily Collins has hinted about which of her co-stars will be joining her in Rome, and we have fingers crossed for Camille’s return.
Actor and producer Collins sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for and interview with her co-stars, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Lucien Laviscount, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Bruno Gouery and Samuel Arnold, and discussed their dreams for season five of the show, which has been confirmed will take place in Rome.
Collins said that she ‘definitely’ wants to explore more of Italy in season five and with her ‘girls’ by her side. ‘I can’t be there alone. That’s not going to be fun. I mean, it will be fun moments, but I’m saying I need my girls,’ she said. ‘We gotta find a way to make it a group experience.’
At present, Collins’ female co-stars include Ashley Park (Mindy), Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu (Sylvie), Thalia Besson (Genevieve) and Camille Razat (Camille).
The news comes days after Darren Star, the series’ creator, revealed that Camille ‘might not’ be returning for the show’s next season. In a interview with The Wrap, Star said that while Camille will be a part of the Emily in Paris world, she might not necessarily be involved in any storylines. ‘I think she’s always going to be part of the series — she’s part of their world and I would never rule out the fact that we’re going to see her again. Her story is going to continue,’ he revealed.
He added: ‘Characters can come in and out of a series, but you don’t necessarily have to see them. We may or may not. I don’t know how much of Camille we’ll see next season. But again, she’s part of the world of the series. I’m not sure how soon we’ll see her, but it doesn’t mean, again, that we won’t be seeing her.’
In addition to revealing she’d like to explore more of Italy in the next season, Collins admitted she wants her character to have a bit of a detox from being on her phone all the time.
‘It was a conscious decision in one of the last scenes of this season when Emily’s leaving her new apartment in Rome with Marcello (Eugenio Franceschini), she opens the door, and as she’s closing it, she drops her phone by the front door,’ she says of the seaons four closing scene. ‘And that was my idea because I was like, “I think we need to see a small moment of Emily consciously deciding to be in the moment.” And so I think I hope next season, we get to see a little less of her phone.’
Bravo, who plays Gabriel – aka Emily’s on/off love interest – in the show is hoping for the chance to grow his (and his character’s) hair out – a mission he’s embarked on since season one. ‘I just wanted something different,’ she says of the slight longer locks in season four. ‘I’m always super clean-shaven. Five months of shaving, shaving and shaving just is not very nice, either for your skin or for your soul. So, I was trying to get scruffy, but I don’t think people like it.’
