Kendrick Lamar has beaten out Drake, Cardi B and others to secure the crown for “greatest Hip Hop song of the streaming era.”
That’s according to Spotify, who published a list on Monday (May 20) of its 100 greatest rap songs of the streaming era, which is defined as the time period from 2015 until the present day.
K. Dot’s To Pimp a Butterfly protest anthem “Alright” came in at No. 1 on the ranking, while Cardi’s diamond-certified “Bodak Yellow” followed closely behind in second place.
Drake‘s “God’s Plan,” Lil Uzi Vert‘s “XO Tour Llif3” and Future‘s “March Madness” rounded out the top five.
The remainder of the top 10 included Migos‘ “Bad and Boujee,” Travis Scott‘s “Sicko Mode,” Sheck Wes‘ “Mo Bamba,” Pop Smoke‘s “Dior” and Juice WRLD‘s “Lucid Dreams.”
XXXTENTACION, Roddy Ricch, Kanye West, Kodak Black, Lil Baby and French Montana also appeared in the top 20.
Further down were inclusions from Fetty Wap, Meek Mill, 21 Savage, Polo G, Tyler, The Creator, Rae Sremmurd, Post Malone and many other big names.
Spotify took to Instagram to unveil the list and also ask followers for their favorite songs of the streaming era.
The list was put together by Carl Chery, Spotify’s Creative Director and Head of Urban Music, and its Hip Hop editorial team to provide “a snapshot of Hip Hop during the streaming era.”
“The criteria for the list are based on quality, impact, replay value, influence, and cultural significance,” Spotify wrote.
“The program is driven by our editors’ music and cultural expertise — not by data — meaning that big streaming numbers were not a requirement to make the list.”
