Emily In Paris returned to Netflix after a two-year hiatus on Thursday with its highly-anticipated fourth season.
Lily Collins made her comeback as the title character Emily Cooper – a young American woman from the Midwest who uproots her life and takes a new job in Paris, finding herself in the middle of a steamy love triangle.
The first five episodes are available to watch on August 15, with viewers having to wait almost an entire month for the second installment on September 11.
However, from steamy carriage escapades to elegant balls, some scenes in the rom-com TV series looked all too familiar to another Netflix hit which debuted a new season recently.
Bridgerton brought viewers its hotly anticipated third season back in June, telling Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan ) and Colin Bridgerton’s (Luke Newton) love story.
Is Emily In Paris copying Bridgerton? From steamy carriage escapades to elegant balls, some scenes in the rom-com TV series looked all too familiar
One standout moment that viewers weren’t quick to forget was a raunchy five-minute scene that saw Colin and Penelope get intimate in a horse-drawn carriage as their friendship turned romantic
A very similar scene in the new instalment of Emily In Paris saw Emily and one of her love interests Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) rekindle their romance as they begin passionately kissing in a carriage of their own

A very similar scene in the new instalment of Emily In Paris saw Emily and one of her love interests, Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), rekindle their romance as they begin passionately kissing in a carriage of their own.
It came after all of the characters got dressed to the nines and attended a masquerade ball – something that’s commonplace in the Bridgerton universe.
The high-class event, which took part in the third episode, was hosted by Agence Grateux and sees both of Emily’s suitors, Gabriel and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount), competing for her attention.
Bridgerton even gets a name drop as Emily is talking to her best friend Mindy Chen (Ashley Park) at the ball when they see a carriage suspiciously rocking in the background.
‘Oh! Someone’s living out their horny Bridgerton fantasies,’ she exclaims, to which Emily replies: ‘Are you kidding me?’
A few scenes later and Emily and Gabriel find themselves in a carriage, with Lily Collins’ character exclaiming: ‘Ah, this night, this carriage. It just feels like a fantasy. It’s too good to be true’.
As things heat up Gabriel asks: ‘Why can’t it be?’ and insists they ‘forget about reality for one night’.

The pair then share a passionate smooch and the carriage rides off into Paris, leaving what happens next up to the viewer’s imagination.
Despite the first installment of episodes finally ending the love triangle and featuring a shocking twist, the Netflix show has failed to impress critics, who who savagely bashed it.
The latest season had a web of complex storylines to untangle, including Camille’s (Camille Razat) shocking pregnancy announcement to Emily’s intricate love triangle involving her chef neighbour Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and hunky Brit Alfie (Lucien Laviscount).
And Emily finally makes her choice, as she and Gabriel choose to explore their romance, and declare their love for one another during the mid-season finale.
A review from Leila Latif of The Guardian was perhaps the most brutal, calling the show a ‘televisual black hole’ that is, ‘devoid of plot, charisma and intrigue.’
She insists that, ‘nothing happens,’ as the title character continues working as a marketing executive while getting involved in a love triangle.
Despite being beloved by fans, the third season of Bridgerton also didn’t go down well with critics.
It went down a treat with viewers as as it pulled in a shocking 45.1 million views within just four days of its release on Netflix.

But, The Independent’s Nick Hilton stated the Netflix period drama is ‘losing its bite’ and gave the new series a disappointing two star rating.
However, he praised actress Nicola, 37, saying: ‘Coughlan is a superb screen presence and has long been one of Bridgerton’s strengths.’
The Telegraph also gave the new series two stars, claiming Nicola and Luke have ‘almost zero chemistry’ – despite their close bond in real-life.
Critic Anita Sign wrote: ‘The writers seem to have given up. Three of the first four episodes feature an almost identical scene of Penelope fleeing a ball in tears. The Lady Whistledown commentary now feels tired and unnecessary.
‘Even the sex scenes are perfunctory, thrown in once an episode as if meeting a quota.’
