Emily In Paris actress Lily Collins showcased her historic mid-century house in Los Angeles.
Inside Lily’s “Mid-Century California Meets Scandinavian” LA House
Lily Collins may j’taime Paris onscreen but in real life, she calls Los Angeles home. In an exclusive interview with British Vogue, Lily Collins gave viewers a tour of her historic mid-century house in Los Angeles. Lily’s house is not just any ordinary house. She lives in a Case Study House, which was built as a rare residential experiment in the post-war era, where the architects were asked to make expensive model homes for soldiers returning from the war. Talking to Vogue, Lily and her husband Charlie recalled their first visit there back in 2021 after their engagement and immediately fell in love with it. As they knew it was to be their house, they put in an offer.
The couple revealed how, together with the help of their interior designer, they renovated the historic house without losing its original touch. Lily hung a vintage 20th century Fox sign, which was a gift from her mother. On the other hand, Charlie hung a vintage clock and together, they stacked their shelves with old children’s books, novels, and fashion monographs. Talking about the vintage monographs, she also stated that she is a fashion-obsessed woman.
Talking about the decor of her house, Lily described the interior style as “mid-century California meets Scandinavian,” a philosophy that also explains her house surroundings. The house is filled with Scandinavian-inspired accents and has a lot of similar patterns, from their cookbooks in the kitchen to the mid-century rugs. They have also designed the outside garden to be inspired by designer Piet Oudolf. The couple also stated how they are deeply fascinated with the Nordic culture and re-installed concrete floors in the house with a bonsai tree embracing perfection outside, just at the entrance of their house.
Lily Collins’ Los Angeles house is the right example of historic architecture blended perfectly with a modern touch.
