Camille is likely using Gabriel and Emily as scapegoats if Gabriel’s reveal in the Emily in Paris season 3 finale is any indication. For three seasons, the love triangle between Emily, Gabriel, and Camille has been at the heart of the series. The introduction of Alfie finally shows Emily moving past her feelings for Gabriel, but Camille uses the history between Gabriel and Emily to get out of her relationship in an effort to avoid exposing her true feelings and infidelity.

With the Emily in Paris season 2 pact regarding Gabriel, specifically not to date him, Camille has shown she cannot be trusted as she tries to blatantly win him back in front of Emily. As Emily and Alfie grow more serious in season 3, there’s no reason for Camille to feel threatened, making her excuse to call off her wedding invalid. Gabriel’s pregnancy reveal to Emily in the season 3 finale shows Camille just wants out of the relationship by any means necessary.

Camille Paints Herself As The Victim In Emily In Paris

Camille plays the victim card by throwing Gabriel and Emily under the bus in season 3 episode “Charade.” Throughout season 3 Camille reveals herself to be the villain of Emily in Paris through her treatment of her friends. Seeking love in the arms of Sofia when Gabriel is too busy with work to pay attention to her, Camille doesn’t want to confess that life with him may not be what she wants anymore. Instead of admitting her affair with Sofia, she says she cannot marry Gabriel because he loves Emily. Blaming Gabriel and Emily is the easy way out.

When Gabriel and Emily hook up in season 1, he’s not dating Camille. Emily chooses not to tell her because she doesn’t want to hurt her and values their friendship whereas Camille would rather ruin Emily’s relationship with Alfie instead of showing herself as the “bad guy.” She uses Emily as a scapegoat because she knows Gabriel will stay with her as long as there is a baby. If she uses Gabriel’s feelings for Emily to leave the relationship, then she’s given pity as the poor single mom instead of the woman who throws away her relationship for a wild fling with a client.

Camille’s Pregnancy May Be Part Of The Scapegoat Plan

Camille’s pregnancy may be part of the plan her mother hatches in season 2 to win back Gabriel. She goes from shunning Emily to welcoming her with open arms and making the pact that neither will date Gabriel, implying that Emily is an enemy that she needs to keep close. After returning from Greece to reveal her pregnancy, Camille proposes to Gabriel before he can propose to her because she knows he will be willing to marry her for the sake of their unborn child. Her feelings for Sofia are pushed aside to focus on the goal of winning Gabriel.

It seems innocent enough until her mother states at their engagement party that Camille is getting married and starting a family at the same age she was. This is either a huge coincidence or part of the plan all along. Camille may have gotten pregnant on purpose to keep Gabriel away from Emily so she can have her picturesque family even though the Emily in Paris reveal greatly impacts Gabriel’s future. Sofia is an unexpected temptation sidelining Camille’s plan, forcing her to reevaluate what she wants. Now that Camille has revealed her true colors, Emily in Paris season 4 should introduce new complications for Emily and Gabriel.
